    Notes: Summary Improved methods for Al2O3 metallization by Cu are described. Good adhesion between Cu and Al2O3 substrate depends on the formation of chemical bonds between the substrate and the metallic layer. The temperature needed for the formation of a CuAl2O4 spinel interface is reduced from 1050°C to 900°C by the addition of various oxides. The adhesion between the CuAl2O4 interface and deposited Cu is stronger then the tensile strength of pure Cu. Plasma techniques for the formation of a Cu containing interface are also described. Bombardment of a Cu film with Xe+ ions in a rf-glow discharge implants Cu atoms into the substrate to a depth of 5 nm, as determined by SIMS depth profiling. Methods for reduction of the CuAl2O4 surface for subsequent metallization are also presented.

    Description / Table of Contents: Abstract Заглавное соединение подвергали пиролизу в проточной системе с перемешиванием в интервале температур 340–402°C и при давлениях 2–12 торр. Каждый сульфид реагирует по двум неэквивалентным маршрутам, давая в качестве продуктов олефины и тиоальдегиды. Аррениусовские параметры согласны с мономолекулярным механизмом, включающим в себя шестицентровое циклическое промежуточное соединение.
    Notes: Abstract The title compounds were pyrolyzed in a stirred-flow system over the temperature range of 340–402°C and pressures between 2 and 12 Torr. For each sulfide, two nonequivalent reaction paths are available, yielding olefins plus thioaldehydes as products. The Arrhenius parameters are consistent with unimolecular mechanisms involving six-centered cyclic transition states.

    Notes: Abstract Doppler-free two-photon spectroscopy of several states of6, 7Li has been achieved by placing an atomic beam inside the dye laser cavity. The hyperfine structure splitting of the 4S state, the fine structure splitting of the 3D level as well as the isotope shifts of the 2S–4S and 2S-3D transition have been measured, by scanning the single-mode laser frequency and detecting the fluorescence light. In addition, signal detection by three-photon ionization via the resonant 3D state was accomplished.

    Notes: Abstract The metastable 23 S 1 state and the short lived 23 P states of the helium-like6, 7Li+ ion spectra have been investigated by dye laser saturation spectroscopy in a low-energy Li+ ion-beam and fluorescence light detection. The hyperfine structure splittings of all the levels, the 23 P fine structure intervals and the isotope shift of the 23 S 1-23 P transitions have been measured. These measurements were made by application of a specially constructed tunable dye laser system capable of single-mode laser scans over more than 60 GHz.

    Description / Table of Contents: Summary The dielectric and mechanical loss factors and the dielectric constant of two high-polymers (polypropylene and polymethylmethacrylate) were investigated after γ-irradiation (maximum dose 5·107 R). The measurements were done in the frequency range between 50 c/s and 104 c/s and in the temperature range between 20 °C and 140 °C. For polypropylene the loss factor was enlarged and a shift of the dielectric loss factor maximum to higher temperatures was observed. The half-width of the dielectric loss factor of PMMA increased slightly due to γ-irradiation.
    Notes: Zusammenfassung Die dielektrischen und mechanischen Verlustfaktoren und die Dielektrizitätszahl wurden an zwei Hochpolymeren (Polypropylen und Polymethylmethacrylat) unter Einfluß von γ-Strahlung (maximale Dosis 5·107R) bei Frequenzen zwischen 50 und 104 Hz gemessen. Es zeigte sich eine sehr starke Vergrößerung der Verluste bei Polypropylen im Bereich der Meßtemperatur zwischen 20 und 140°C. Weiterhin konnte eine leichte Verschiebung des Verlustfaktordispersionsbereiches zu höheren Temperaturen beobachtet werden. Die untersuchten dielektrischen und mechanischen Eigenschaften von PMMA änderten sich demgegenüber nur sehr wenig. Es wurde jedoch eine leichte Vergrößerung der Halbwertsbreite des Verlustfaktordispersionsgebietes mit steigender γ-Dosis festgestellt.

    Notes: Abstract The hyperfine structure (hfs) splittings of the metastable 1s2s 3 S 1 state of7Li+ have been measured with combined laser optical pumping and microwave resonance. A lowenergy Li+ ion beam, optically excited by an intersecting laser beam, passed a waveguide where radio frequency transitions were induced. The resulting population transfer among the hfs levels of the3 S 1 was detected via the change in intensity of the fluorescence light from a second crossing region of laser light and ion beam located past the waveguide. The magnetic hfs constantA(7Li+, 1s2s 3S1) was measured and compared with theory. A deviation of the two transition frequenciesν(F=3/2−F=5/2) andν(F=1/2−F=3/2) from the interval rule is due to a depression of theF=3/2 hfs sublevel, caused by mixing of the 23 S 1 and 21 S 0 states via hyperfine interaction. This shift was never observed so far in a two-electron spectrum, because of absence ofI〉1/2 isotopes in He, the only two-electron atom investigated spectroscopically with high precision. The size of the shift is in fair agreement with a theoretical estimate.

    Description / Table of Contents: Summary The dielectric properties of two polyamide-samples (6.- and 6.10-polyamide) are investigated at 10 GHz during and after60Co-γ-radiation (doses ≦ 8 · 108 R) at temperatures between 77 and 360 K. The irradiation caused changes in lattice bond and the decrease in crystallinity was observed by means of the temperature dependences of the relative dielectric constant and of the dielectric loss factor. The glass transition temperatures of both substances are enhanced with increasingγ-dose.
    Notes: Zusammenfassung An zwei Polyamiden (6.- und 6.10-Polyamid) wurden die dielektrischen Eigenschaften bei 10 GHz im Temperaturbereich von 77–360 K bei Bestrahlung mit60Co-Gammastrahlung bis zu einer Dosis von 9 · 108 R bestimmt. Die durch Bestrahlung eintretende Vernetzung und die Zerstörung der Kristallinität konnten aus der Temperaturabhängigkeit von relativer Dielektrizitätszahl und dielektrischem Verlustfaktor abgelesen werden. Die Glasübergangstemperaturen der beiden Stoffe vergrößerten sich mit wachsender Gammadosis.
