Sommaire Une pompe péristaltique fut conçue pour fonctionner soit manuellement, soit sous contrôle d'un ordinateur; elle fournit des débits dans une gamme dynamique étendue (de 0,01 à 30 ml/min). La pompe, entraînée par un moteur à échelons dont la vitesse peut être déterminée manuellement à l'aide d'interrupteurs numériques ou par contrôle à distance, est capable d'opérer dans les deux sens avec contre-pression négative ou positive, surmontant donc ainsi les problèmes de résistance imprévisible de l'écoulement dans les aiguilles et cathéters à travers lesquels le fluide est injecté. L'effet bloquant des rouleaux de pompe sur le tuyau évite l'écoulement à rebours en créant une pression au lieu de l'infusion légèrement plus élevée que les pressions intravasculaires physiologiquement atteintes, évitant ainsi le caillage et la microembolisation.
Abstract:
Zusammenfassung Es wurde eine peristaltische Pumpe für den manuellen oder rechnergesteuerten Einsatz konstruiert. Sie gewährleistet Durchflußgeschwindigkeiten über einen großen dynamischen Bereich (0,01 bis 30 ml/min). Der Antrieb erfolgt durch einen Schrittmotor, dessen Geschwindigkeit von Hand mit Digitalschaltern oder durch Fernbedienung bestimmt wird. Die Pumpe kann in jeder Richtung mit negativem oder positivem Gegendruck arbeiten, so daß die Probleme des unvorhersehbaren Durchflußwiderstandes in Nadeln und Kathetern, durch die die Flüssigkeit infusiert wird, ausgeschaltet werden. Die Klemmwirkung der Pumpenwalzen auf die Röhren verhütet, daß ein Rückfluß entsteht, indem an der Infusionsstelle ein Druck erzeugt wird, der etwas höher als der erreichbare intravaskuläre Druck ist, so daß ein Gerinnen oder eine Mikroembolie physiologisch verhütet wird.

Abstract A peristaltic pump was designed for either manual or computer-controlled operations; it provides flow rates over a large dynamic range (0·01 to 30 ml/min). Driven by a stepper motor in which the stepping rate is determined manually with digital switches or under remote control, the pump is capable of operating in either direction with negative or positive back pressures, thus overcoming problems of unpredictable resistance to flow in needles and catheters through which the fluid is infused. The clamping effect of the pump rollers on the tubing prevents back flow by creating a pressure at the infusion site slightly higher than the intravascular pressures that are physiologically attainable, thus preventing clotting and microembolisation.
