    Description: The relative contribution of intrinsic (Q−1 i ) and scattering (Q−1 s ) attenuation to seismic wave attenuation was estimated for the Garwhal–Kumaun Himalayas using Multiple Lapse Time Window Analysis (MLTWA) method under the assumption of isotropic scattering. Local earthquake data recorded by an array operated by Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology (WIHG), India was used for this purpose. It is observed that scattering attenuation primarily contributes to seismic wave attenuation in this region and its value is much higher compared to that of intrinsic attenuation at around 1Hz frequency. As frequency increases the relative contribution of scattering attenuation to total attenuation starts decreasing. However, as seismic albedo is higher than 0.5 for all the frequencies considered, it is concluded that the medium here is highly heterogeneous in nature

    Description: Tor mahseer (Tor tor), possess high commercial and recreational value as they are potential game as well as food fish of India. Two cell culture systems were developed from fin and heart of T. tor (Hamilton-Buchanan). The explants excised aseptically from fingerling of T. tor were cultured in Leibovitz-15 (L-15) medium with 20% fetal bovine serum (FBS). Radiation of cells started after 72 hours and 48 hours of explant attachment from caudal fin and heart respectively. Confluent monolayer of cells with heterogeneous morphology around fin explants was observed after 7-10 days, where as a homogenous confluent layer of fibroblastic cells from heart explant was observed after 12-13 days. The establishment of cell culture systems from different organs and tissues of commercial important species would facilitates in vitro research.

    Notes: Summary In this paper in section I the structure of massive fluid spheres (stars) which are composed of completely degenerate matters is investigated. Equations of equilibrium govering such configurations have been put in convenient forms. In section II a few minimal properties of the stars, such as the maximum (or minimum) central energy density and temperature, etc., have been studied. It has further been shown that for nondegenerate matters the reductions in maximum central energy density and temperature are proportional to 1/K 3 3 c −2 and 1/K 3 respectively (c=2.998×1010 cm/sec andK 3 is assumed to be greater thanK 1(=3.17×1012).

    Notes: Summary For a static single-zone planet assuming that 1) the pressure and density are connected by the equationP =K Q 1+1/n–s, 2) a complete spherical symmetry is preserved and the system is in hydrostatic equilibrium; in section II, the expressions for the field equations have been obtained in suitable dimensionless forms. In section III the solution of the field equations forn=0 (which represents a homogeneous liquid) has been given in explicit form; for other prescribed value ofn=2/5 it has been pointed out that solutions must be performed by numerical integrations. Expressions for the mass-radius relation, the ratio of central to average density, the total energy, the proper energy and gravitational potential energy, which give some informations about the internal structure of the planet, have also been given in this section. Section IV discusses the velocity of sound at the centre of the planet. A few concluding remarks regarding the structure of the planet have been given in section V.

Its meiotic behavior and its possible importance for deriving diverse hyperdiploid lines from desynaptic mutants are outlined.
