Abstract The dynamic tensile stress-strain curves for annealed aluminum, copper and pure iron at constant strain rates have been obtained by an improved experimental method, whose essential features consist, first of all, of a reasonable estimation of the stress transmitted into the test bar by comparing the strain-time records at two points on an elastic input bar joined to the former, and, secondly, of the appropriate application of the friction-welding technique to joining bars.
