The Chemistry of Substituted Benzoquinones, X Synthesis of Substituted 1.4-BenzoquinonesMetalation of protected 1.2.4.5-tetrahydroxy-2) and 1-chloro-2.4.5-trihydroxybenzenes followed by treatment of the intermediate aryllithium compounds with carbonyl derivatives results in the formation of substituted benzenes and hydroquinones (CO2H, CO2R, COC6H5, CHO, CH2OH, CH(OR)2, CH=CHCOCH3), which are oxidized to quinones.

Aus geschützten 1.2.4.5-Tetrahydroxy- und 1-Chlor-2.4.5-trihydroxy-benzolen sind über Aryllithiumverbindungen als Zwischenstufen und deren Reaktion mit Carbonylverbindungen substituierte Benzole und Hydrochinone (CO2H, CO2R, COC6H5, CHO, CH2OH, CH(OR)2, CH=CHCOCH3) zugänglich, die zu Chinonen oxidiert werden.
