Abstract:
Notes:
Summary Triphenyl arsine is particularly suitable for the determination of arsenic by gas chromatography. It is produced quantitatively when arsenic diethyldithiocarbamate is caused to react with magnesium diphenyl. The detection limit is about 0.4 ng As. A method was established for the determination of arsenic in biological material. For this purpose, the material is dried and then incinerated in a Schöniger flask. The arsenic absorbed in hydrochloric solution is extracted as a dithiocarbamidate and, after removal of the solvent, caused to react with magnesium diphenyl; it is then determined by gas chromatography as triphenyl arsine. Concentrations as low as 2 μg As/g can be determined; the procedure takes between 1 h 30 min and 2 h.
