Conclusions 1. A study was made of the densification kinetics during sintering by hot pressing of the transition metals, Ti, Cr, Nb, Mo, Re, and W, and also of the carbides TiCX, ZrCX, HfCX, NbCX, and TaCX in their homogeneity regions. 2. The energies of activation for sintering by hot pressing of the transition metals and their carbides within their homogeneity regions were determined. It was established that, for the pure metals, the energy of activation increases with rise in SWASd5C. For the carbide phases of the transition metals of groups IV–V, the energy of activation grows with decrease in the stability of the sp3 configurations of the carbon atoms.
