Summary The synthesis and Ni(0) catalyzed homocoupling polymerization of 4,4′-bis[5-(trifluoromethanesulfonyloxy)-2-biphenylyl]-1, 1′-binaphthyl (9) are described. This polymerization reaction produces a soluble polyarylene containing alternating 4,4′-(1,1′-binaphthyl) and 4,4′-(3,3′-diphenyl)biphenyl structural units.
