Abstract: This book focus on creating popularity and interest in modeling, derivation of equations for plant disease forecasting or construction and use of Web-based Expert Systems among plant pathologists. This book covers descriptions of many historic plant disease epidemics, various forecasting systems and methods of their construction, instruments required for study of plant disease epidemics, widely used commercial forecasting systems and present global scenario of forecasting. In the human history plant disease epidemics have brought unsurmountable misery many a times. Still breaking out of epidemic in any time in any part of the world is a stark reality. The panic spraying of chemical pesticides is not a panacea. Only the IPM technology may give relief. This technology if backed by the disease forewarning system may yield the desired results. Hence, an in depth understanding of plant disease forecasting system and its successful implementation may bring the global food security. This title provides a useful background for all students, practitioners, and researchers interested in the field of epidemiology, food security and agriculture sciences. .

Description / Table of Contents: Atmospheric Water Generator Technologies -- Outdoor testing of double slope condensation surface for extraction of water from air -- New materials for sorption-based atmospheric water harvesting:opportunities and challenges -- Metal-oxide frameworks for Atmospheric Water Harvesting -- Solar adsorption-based atmospheric water harvesting systems: Materials and technologies.
Abstract: The commercial operation of atmospheric water harvesting systems is still limited to few countries; this is mainly due to the low energy efficiency of the system and the inability to effectively operate throughout the various seasons of the year. Researchers have attempted to develop strategies to render the operation of atmospheric water harvesters easier and cost effective. This book covers work progress toward such direction, including among others the co-operation of these systems with renewable energy source and the adaptation of the systems to local conditions; the response of the communities around the world to such technology and how its implementation is affected by cultural believe, cost, and technological friendliness. The book is of interest to academic researchers, students, water authorities, professional in relevant industries, government regulatory bodies officers, and environmentalists.

Abstract: This book presents a comprehensive analysis of diverse aspects of geohazards. The growing vulnerability and exposure to failures in risk reduction and policy-making increases the severity of geohazard impacts by many folds. Therefore, detailed geohazard analysis, modelling and forecasting are needed to reduce the impacts of extreme events. An interdisciplinary approach to hazard mitigation provides an advanced tool for risk reduction. The book thus summarizes recent modelling and analysis techniques for hazard assessment and risk mitigation. Topics discussed in the book are hazard and risk associated with earthquakes, vulnerability assessment for landslides and avalanches, the assessment of tsunami risk in coastal regions, the implementation of early warning systems to prevent catastrophic consequences, climate change risk modelling and risk communication. The convergent approach with the aspects of natural, engineering, and social sciences attracts a vast audience working to advance disaster science. This book also significantly facilitates the acquisition of policy-relevant knowledge for risk reduction, which is beneficial to the general public.

Notes: Abstract Population-based variations in frequency and distribution of dystrophin gene deletions have been recognized in Duchenne/Becker (DMD/BMD) muscular dystrophy patients. In the present study, DNA samples from 121 unrelated DMD/BMD patients from North India were analyzed for deletional studies with multiplex PCR and Southern hybridization. A total of 88 (73%) patients showed intragenic deletions in the dystrophin gene. The observed proportion of gene deletions is relatively high, particularly compared with that of Asian counterparts. However, the distribution of breakpoints across the gene does not show significant variations.
