Notes: [Auszug] In particular Hoc is composed of four components. Kent et al.*, Lewis and Spedding4 and Spedding et al.5 showed experimentally, for a laboratory source, that only the two principal components, of nearly equal brightness, were significant. They are separated by 0-14 A. Sommer-feld and Unsold6'7 ...

Notes: [Auszug] The radio continuum emission from these features is-identical to that from the old supernova remnants. However, the nature of the 60 diameter loop is complicated by its correlation with twelve high-velocity neutral hydrogen clouds4. It has therefore been suggested that two, if not the third, of ...

Notes: [Auszug] Fig. 1. This figure shows the three radio continuum loops as thick continuous lines. The high-velocitv neutral hydrogen clouds are shown as open circles containing a point. The velocities of these clouds are given in kilometres per sec. All further positions considered in the search for neutral ...

Notes: [Auszug] NGC1068 is an Sb spiral galaxy1 with a Seyfert nucleus2 which is at distance3 of 16Mpc (assuming H0 = 75 kms"1 Mpc-1). Several observers3"6 have studied the broad (-1,450 km s"1) [Om] emission lines from the central (-300pc diameter) regions. There are at least four distinct clouds with separate ...

Notes: Abstract A description is given of an improved version of Flynn's photo-electric, pressure-scanning, Fabry-Pérot (F.-P.) interferometer which has been built for the purpose of studying line emission from diffuse gaseous nebulae. A discussion of the results obtained, and their reduction, is to be given in subsequent papers.

Notes: Abstract The Rosette Nebula was photographed through filters isolating the Hα,OII andOIII nebular emission lines. Isophotes were constructed at these wavelengths. Measurements of the radial velocity differences across the Rosette were obtained from an interferogram. These were compared to some conflicting measurements made by previous authors. Some small regions in the Rosette and Barnard's Arc were shown to be emitting lines wider than the bulk of the matter.

Notes: Abstract A faint nebula, between the Rosette and NGC 2264, appears to be a supernova remnant. This was photographed with long exposures through narrow filters centred on the bright nebular emission lines. Interferograms were also taken. These revealed extensive regions emitting broad lines, and showed that the nebula did not have the large expansion velocity that was expected.

Notes: Abstract Numerical simulations of the evolution of Planetary Nebulae (PNe) based on the Interacting Stellar Winds models have become highly sophisticated, producing synthetic images and spectra in a number of prominent emission lines at high spatial and spectral resolution. The success of these models in producing synthetic images which closely resemble many observed nebulae is well documented. The number of PNe which have been investigated spectroscopically with good spatial coverage and high spatial and spectral resolution is relatively small and therefore in many cases the synthetic spectra predicted by the numerical models have not been directly compared to observed spectra. Here we consider some recent results from two PNe and compare them to model results.
