    Notes: Abstract With a diode laser we have studied the spectral region around 921 cm−1 of the CF2Cl2 molecule cooled in a free jet. Accurate studies of the intensity of two vibrorotational bands have enabled us to determine their assignment. In addition, the rotational structure has been partially resolved, and approximate fitting parameters have been deduced. The simultaneous use of a diode laser and a free jet has proved to be useful in correctly identifying the origin of the absorption bands.

    Description / Table of Contents: Riassunto Lo scattering Raman rotazionale stimolato della radiazione laser a CO2 in orto-deuterio fornisce una sorgente coerente di alta potenza nella regione dell'infrarosso tra 11 e 14 μm. Con un'energia di pompa dell'ordine di 4 J si ottiene un'energia di 1 J. Le energie di soglia sono state confrontate con quelle del para-idrogeno, misurate nello stesso apparato, e i fattori di scala sperimentali sono discussi.
    Abstract: Резюме Вынужденное вращательное Рамановское рассеяние излучения CO2 лазера в орто-D2 представляет когерентный источник высокой интенсивности в инфракрасной области от 11 до 14 мкм. Получается максимум энергии на выходе ≃1 Дж для энергии накачки 4.0 Дж. Пороговые энергии сравниваются с данными, измеренными той же аппаратурой, в случае пара-H2. Обсуждаются экспериментальные масштабные факторы.
    Notes: Summary Stimulated rotational Raman scattering of CO2 laser radiation in ortho-D2 provides a high-power coherent source in the infrared region from 11 to 14 μm. A peak output energy of ≃1 J has been obtained for a pump energy of 4.0 J. Threshold energies have been compared with those of para-H2 measured in the same apparatus and experiment scaling factors are discussed.

    Description / Table of Contents: Riassunto In questo lavoro si descrive un esperimento progettato per l'uso contemporaneo di due radiazioni di differenti frequenze nella regione di 16 μm, che si basa su un processo di mescolamento a quattro onde in una cella Raman a para-idrogeno. I principali parametri che influenzano l'efficienza di conversione delle due radiazioni di pompa (laser a CO2) sono studiati e ottimizzati per ottenere un'apprezzabile affidabilità del sistema.
    Abstract: Резюме В этой работе описывается эксперимент, предложенный для одновременного действия излучений двух различных частот в области 16 мкм, в соответствии с процедурой смешивания четырех волн в пара-H2 рамановской ячейке. Исследуются основные параметры, которые определяют эффективность конверсии двух частот первичной накачки CO2 лазера. Проводится оптимизация системы.
    Notes: Summary In this work an experiment, projected for a simultaneous operation of two different-frequency radiations in the 16 μ range, is described according to a four-wave mixing process in a para-H2 Raman cell. The main parameters which influence the conversion efficiency of the two primary CO2 pump radiations are investigated and optimized to get an appreciable reliability of the system.

L’accordo tra i dati sperimentali e quelli teorici è soddisfacente e nuove transizioni conJ≤20 sono riportate o assegnate.
    Abstract: Резюме Используя экспериментальные данные и простое полиномиальное разлоюение вплоть до десятого порядка поJ иK, проводится анализQ зоны аммиака посредством инфракрасных переходовv 2(0→1). Пинии cK=3 требуют дополнительного члена, зависящего отJ вследствие эффектаK-расщепления. Полученный спектр согласуется с экспериментальными результатами. Приводятся новые зкспериментальные линии сJ≤20.
    Notes: Summary The analysis ofQ-band infra-red transitionsv 20→1 of ammonia has been performed by using existing data and a simple polynomial expansion up to the tenth order ofJ andK. The lines withK=3 require an additionalJ-dependent term because of theK-splitting effect. In this manner, the spectrum has been reproduced within the accuracy of the experimental data. New experimental lines withJ≦20 have been reported or assigned.

    Description / Table of Contents: Riassunto Nell'impiego di lasers accordabili in modo è necessario misurare la frequenza. Normalmente questa misura è derivata da tecniche eterodina, ma ci sono grosse difficoltà in presenza di un grosso rumore elettromagnetico di fondo, come quando viene usata una eccitazione a radiofrequenza. Le stesse informazioni possono essere ottenute con metodi ottici; per esempio con questa tecnica noi abbiamo misurato lo spostamento di cavità e la larghezza di banda di un laser ad alta pressione a CO2 alimentato a RF accordabile 500 MHz in modo.
    Abstract: Резюме Для использования настроенных лазеров необходимы измерения частоты и моды излучения. Зта проблема является очень важнои, когда используются волноводные лазеры. Обычно зта информция получается с помощью гетеродинной техники, но возникает ряд трудностей при применении этого метода из-за высокого злектрического шума скружающей среды, когда используются импульсные или радиочастотные лазеры. Мы предлагаем получать зту информацию о лазерах, используя альтернативную оптич ческую систему с низкой стоимостью. С помощью этой аппаратуры мы измеряем резонатор и грубо оцениваем верхний предел длины волны радиочастотного настроенного CO2 лазера с высоким давлением.
    Notes: Summary To use mode tunable lasers it is necessary to measure the laser frequency and the mode emission. This problem is very important when waveguide lasers are used. Normally this information is obtained by a heterodyne technique, but there are some difficulties to perform this method in a large electrical noise environment, when pulsed or radiofrequency lasers are used. We have obtained this laser information by using an alternative low-cost optical system. With this apparatus we have measured the cavity pulling and roughly estimated an upper limit for the linewidth of a radiofrequency, high pressure, line and mode-tunable, CO2 laser.

    Description / Table of Contents: Riassunto In questo lavoro sono stati studiati i principali parametri che definiscono la soglia, la forma temporale e la stabilità di un laser Raman a para-idrogeno (16 μm). I nostri risultati mostrano un'alta efficienza di conversione di potenza (130%) per ciascuna riga del laser a CO2 permettendo una buona tunabilità nel range dei 16 μm. Questo è fondamentale per la separazione isotopica di UF6.
    Abstract: Резюме В этой работе исследуются основные параметры, которые определяют порог, временную форму и стабильностьp-H2 рамановского лазера. Наши результаты показывают очень высокую эффективность конверсии (130%). Для каждой линии CO2 накачки мы можем сопоставить соответствующую линию (импульс≥1 Дж/50 нс) в диапазоне 16 мкм. Это является основой для разделения изотопов UF6.
    Notes: Summary In this work the main parameters which define the threshold, the temporal shape and the stability ofp-H2 Raman laser have been investigated. Our results show a very high-power conversion efficiency (130%) and for each pump CO2 line we can dispose of a correspondent line (pulse≥1J/50 ns) in the 16 μm range. This is foundamental as far as UF6 isotopic separation is concerned.

    Description / Table of Contents: Riassunto L’effetto della polarizzazione dei campi elettrici in un trattamento generale della generazione non lineare di radiazione nei gas è stato evidenziato sotto alcune approssimazioni sufficienti a descrivere correttamente i casi sperimentali osservabili nella pratica. È possibile così concludere che la polarizzazione influenza sempre il guadagno spontaneo, anche nei processi Raman risonanti.
    Notes: Summary The effect of the field polarization in the nonlinear optical generation in gases is investigated by using two different approaches, allowing the description of several practical situations. In general, by using a suitable pump polarization, we can obtain a maximum in the spontaneous gain. This fact is very important in the infra-red nonlinear conversion.

    Description / Table of Contents: Riassunto Mediante un laser CO2 alimentato a radiofrequenza ed accordabile in modo su singola riga 510 MHz noi abbiamo misurato sia l’allargamento che lo spostamento per pressione delle righe delle transizioni laser dovuti a differenti perturbatori X (X=CO2, NH3, N2, He). I dati di allargamento confermano le misure precedenti mentre quelli di spostamento sono in parziale disaccordo. I dati per il sistema CO2, X (X=NH3) sono riportati per la prima volta.
    Abstract: Резюме Используя CO2 лазер с радиочастотным возбуждением, мы измеряем уширение под действием давления и сдвиг CO2-лазерных линий, возмущенных различными газами (CO2, N2, He, NH3). Данные по уширению согласуются с результатами предыдущих работ. Однако используемая техника позволяет провести более точные измерения сдвига. В частности, впервые были измерены коэффициенты уширения и сдвига, обусловленные аммиаком.
    Notes: Summary By using a mode tunable CO2 radiofrequency excited laser we have measured the pressure broadening and the shift of many CO2 laser lines perturbed by different gases (CO2, N2, He, NH3). While the broadening data agree with the previous work results, this technique allows a more accurate shift measurement. In particular the broadening and shift coefficients due to ammonia are measured for the first time.

    Notes: Summary In this work we report the physical properties of a radiofrequency supplied waveguide CO2 laser operating with different standard mixtures at high pressures up to 1.5 bar, with about 10% electrical efficiency. We describe some problems to obtain a complete RF matching in the discharge and we analyse the conditions for a better efficiency, gain and peak power in different mixtures, both to obtain a larger mode tuning and to eliminate the he contents so that the laser running costs are largely reduced.
