Article Many species of nematodes use pheromones called ascarosides to coordinate their behaviour and development. Here, Zhao et al . demonstrate that the beetle vector of the pinewood nematode ( Bursaphelenchus xylophilus ) also uses and responds to ascarosides in its interactions with the nematodes.
