    Description: Completely autotrophic nitrogen removal over nitrite (CANON) has been regarded as an efficient and economical process for nitrogen removal from wastewater. The distribution and genetic diversity of the functional microorganisms in five lab-scale CANON reactors have been investigated by using some molecular biology methods. Nitrosomonas-like aerobic ammonium oxidizing bacteria (AerAOB) and Candidatus Brocadia-related anaerobic ammonium oxidizing bacteria (AnAOB) were detected as predominant functional microbes in the five reactors while Nitrobacter-like nitrite oxidizing bacteria (NOB) existed only in the systems operated at ambient temperature. Communities of AerAOB and AnAOB were almost similar among the five reactors while the distribution of the functional microbes was either scattered or densely packed. Meanwhile, this study has demonstrated the feasibility of starting up CANON by inoculating conventional activated sludge in low ammonium content at ambient temperature.

    Description: This open access book introduces how to manage important tasks in industrial wireless networks. Important tasks must be completed on time and with guaranteed quality; that is the consensus reached by system designers and users. However, for too long, important tasks have often been given unnecessary urgency, and people intuitively believe that important tasks should be executed first so that their performance can be guaranteed. Actually, in most cases, their performance can be guaranteed even if they are executed later, and the “early” resources can be utilized for other, more urgent tasks. Therefore, confusing importance with urgency hinders the proper use of system resources. In 2007, mixed criticality was proposed to indicate that a system may contain tasks of various importance levels. Since then, system designers and users have distinguished between importance and urgency. In the industrial field, due to the harsh environment they operate in, industrial wireless networks’ quality of service (QoS) has always been a bottleneck restricting their applications. Therefore, this book introduces criticality to label important data, which is then allocated more transmission resources, ensuring that important data’s QoS requirements can be met to the extent possible. To help readers understand how to apply mixed-criticality data to industrial wireless networks, the content is divided into three parts. First, we introduce how to integrate the model of mixed-criticality data into industrial wireless networks. Second, we explain how to analyze the schedulability of mixed-criticality data under existing scheduling algorithms. Third, we present a range of novel scheduling algorithms for mixed-criticality data. If you want to improve the QoS of industrial wireless networks, this book is for you.

    Notes: The ZnO/n+-Si heterojunction has been fabricated via depositing nominally undoped ZnOfilm by reactive sputtering on a heavily arsenic-doped (n+) silicon substrate. The sputtered ZnO filmwas n-type in conductivity with an electron concentration of 1.0×1018 cm-3. The current-voltagecharacteristics indicate that the ZnO/n+-Si heterojunction does not possess rectifying function. Underthe forward bias with the negative voltage applied on the n+-Si substrate, the heterojunction emitsultraviolet and broad visible lights characteristics of near-band-edge and defect-related emissions ofZnO, respectively. The EL mechanism has been tentatively explained in terms of the energy-banddiagram

    Notes: Sr-filled skutterudite compounds SryCo4Sb12 (y=0-0.20) were synthesized by melting method.XRD and EPMA results revealed that the obtained samples are single skutterudite phase withhomogeneous chemical composition. The lattice parameters increase linearly with increasing Sr contentin the range of y=0-0.20. The thermal conductivity, electrical conductivity and Seebeck coefficient weremeasured in the temperature range of 300-850K. The measurement of Hall effect was performed by Vande Pauw method at room temperature. The obtained Sr-filled skutterudite exhibits n-type conduction. Theabsolute value of the Seebeck coefficient of SryCo4Sb12 decreases with the increase of Sr content. Theelectrical conductivity increases with the increase of Sr content. The lattice thermal conductivity ofSryCo4Sb12 is significantly depressed as compared with unfilled CoSb3. The maximum dimensionlessthermoelectric figure of merit is 0.7 for Sr0.20Co4Sb12 at 850K. Further optimization of chemicalcomposition would improve the thermoelectric performance

    Notes: [Ca2(Co0.65Cu0.35)2O4]0.624CoO2 polycrystalline samples were prepared using sol-gel methodfollowed by spark plasma sintering. Thermoelectric properties of the samples were examined from roomtemperature to 1000K. The temperature dependence of electrical conductivity shows that the holehopping conduction mechanism is dominant for the samples. The activation energy of hoppingconduction is 0.11 eV. At the temperature of about 1000K, the electrical resistivity is 7.1m[removed info] cm, thethermopower is 160 μVK-1, the thermal conductivtity is 2.94Wm-1K-1 and dimensionless figure of meritreaches 0.12. These results indicate [Ca2(Co0.65Cu0.35)2O4]0.624CoO2 is a potential material for hightemperature thermoelectric energy conversion

    Notes: A new twenty-freedom non-linear dynamic model for two-span dissymmetric elasticrotor system was established by considering the crack fault, rub-impact fault and oil film force. Thecomplex motion characteristics of this system were numerically studied and the effect of differentparameters on the system is investigated. Moreover, the both cases with and without crack faultwere discussed in detail. The results indicate that the system has obvious single-period,period-doubling bifurcation and chaos phenomena. There are marked influences of the crack faultson the nonlinear characteristics of the system, especially under some the rotating speed. The caseconsidering crack faults has different chaos region from the case without crack fault. The chaosphenomenon appears at lower rotating speed, and when the chaos comes again, the correspondingrotating speed extends backwards. Synchronously, the influence of crack fault increases along withthe depth of crack. The results may provide theoretical references for rotor fault diagnosis
