Abstract The 4′,5-diacetoxy-3′,4-dimethoxy derivative (V) of 2-(α-acetopropyl)-benzophenone, which forms isobenzpyrylium salts with mineral acids, undergoes the same type of ring closure in glacial acetic acid at 240°. An internal isobenzpyrylium salt is forming which is shown to be an 1,6-anhydro base of structure VI.

Zusammenfassung Das 4′,5-Diacetoxy-3′,4-dimethoxy-Derivat des 2-(α-Acetopropyl)-benzophenons (V), welches mit Mineralsäuren Ringschluß (unter gleichzeitiger O-Entacetylierung) zu dem entsprechend substituierten Isobenzpyryliumsalz (vom Typ IV) erleidet, schließt in Eisessig erst bei 240° einen ähnlichen Ring. Das Produkt ist ein “inneres” Isobenzpyryliumsalz, entstanden durch Herausspaltung von Methanol, für welches die 1,6-Anhydrobasenstruktur VI bewiesen wird.
