Conclusions Boron inhibits the solution of carbon in molybdenum; the carbon atoms are evidently located only in lattice defects. The presence of clean sections of the solid solution (without carbon) creates favorable conditions for stress relaxation, which lowers the ductile—brittle transition temperature.
