Summary For the purpose of investigating the movement of free-living foxes, two one year old foxes were equipped with transmitters and released in two large forested areas near Munich. The construction and functioning of the instruments are discussed in detail. The location of the animals was determined with the aid of two yagi antennas, 17 and 6 meters high, and thereafler catalogued. In addition, infra red lighting and relay stations were used to gain information about the use of dens and feeding places. One fox could be followed for five days, and the second for 7. The animals appear to have their rest periods frequently between 9 and 15∶30, and the periods of greatest activity at dawn and dusk. A definite movement to three activity centers was observed.
