    Description / Table of Contents: Abstract A granite was drilled in the prevolcanic basement of Thera, an island of the Attico-Cycladic belt. It intruded the blueschist facies country rocks. K-Ar biotite ages and Ar-Ar plateau ages on two feldspars indicate rapid cooling, as all ages cluster around 9.5 Ma. Its occurrence indicates that the thermometamorphic evolution that characterizes the Attiko-Cycladic belt extends as far as Thera.
    Abstract: Résumé Un forage a été pratiqué dans un granite du socle pré-volcanique de l'île de Thera, qui appartient à la ceinture attico-cycladique. Ce granite a intrudé les roches encaissantes de facies schistes bleus. Les datations effectuées sur les biotites par la méthode K-Ar et les âges-plateau des feldspaths obtenus par la méthode Ar-Ar indiquent un refroidissement rapide, puisque tous les âges sont de l'ordre de 9,5 Ma. Ce granite montre que l'évolution thermométamorphique qui caractérise la ceinture Attico-Cycladique s'étend jusqu'à l'île de Thera.
    Notes: Zusammenfassung Auf der Insel Thera, im Attiko-Kykladishen Gürtel, ist ein Granitkörper in einer Tiefe von ca. 250 m durch eine Bohrung aufgedeckt. Dieser Granitkörper ist in metamorphen Gesteinen von Blauschiefer-Facies intrudiert. K-Ar-Biotit- und Ar-Ar-Feldspat-Altersbestimmungen streuen um 9.5 Ma. Diese Alter weisen auf rasche Abkühlung des Granitkörpers hin. Es zeigt sich somit, daß die thermometamorphe Entwicklung des Attiko-Kykladischen Gürtels bis zur Insel Thera reicht.

    Notes: Abstract It is examined, if it is possible, to obtain solutions of the SU(2) Yang-Mills field equations in Minkowski space from Euclidean self-dual Yang-Mills fields by method proposed by Bernreuther. It is shown that the conditions, which are imposed on the Euclidean self-dual fields by this method, make every Euclidean self-dual field and the corresponding Minkowski space field obtained from it, equivalent to a pure gauge field, F ab ≡0.

    Notes: Abstract A model containing a nonet of scalar mesonsS, a nonet of pseudoscalar mesonsP, and a nonet of baryons is constructed where the mesons enter in the form of the matrixM=ei(S+iP), Several Lagrangians are introduced such that the mesons get their physical masses, and the decay widths of the scalar mesons are calculated. The model satisfies generalized PCAC.     Notes: Abstract We study systematically and exhibit the Lorentz symmetry of the Bethe-Salpeter equation in the light-like case for two scalar quarks of different masses interacting via the exchange of a scalar photon. We develop a new approach for solving the eigenvalue problem of the equation for the general case (not only the light-like). Our method permits accurate analytic expressions for the spectrum and the wave functions.

    Notes: Abstract During X-ray based quality inspection, accurate reconstruction of a 3D object model from a set of its 2D X-ray projections requires efficient geometric calibration, i.e., accurate estimation of the geometric parameters of the setup. We present a calibration methodology for the estimation of the geometric parameters of single-head cone-beam X-ray radiography systems. Our method is related to known approaches regarding camera calibration and geometric calibration of tomography/radiography systems, but performs better in terms of computational efficiency.

    Notes: Abstract An optimal control formulation of the problem of collision avoidance of mobile robots moving in terrains containingmoving obstacles is presented. A dynamic model of the mobile robot and the dynamic constraints are derived. Collision avoidance is guaranteed if the minimum distance between the robot and the objects is nonzero. A nominal trajectory is assumed to be known from off-line planning. The main idea is to change the velocity along the nominal trajectory so that collisions are avoided. Furthermore, time consistency with the nominal plan is desirable. Two solutions are obtained: (1) A numerical solution of the optimization problem and a perturbation type of control to update the optimal plan and (2) A computationally efficient method giving near optimal solutions. Simulation results verify the value of the proposed strategies and allow for comparisons.

    Notes: Abstract In this paper, we demonstrate a reliable and robust system for localization of mobile robots in indoors environments which are relatively consistent to a priori known maps. Through the use of an Extended Kalman Filter combining dead-reckoning, ultrasonic, and infrared sensor data, estimation of the position and orientation of the robot is achieved. Based on a thresholding approach, unexpected obstacles can be detected and their motion predicted. Experimental results from implementation on our mobile robot, Nomad-200, are also presented.
