Conclusions 1. The oxidation of iron with CCl4 was carried out under mild conditions. 2. In the interaction of metallic iron with CCl4 in dipolar aprotonic solvents (acetonitrile, benzonitrile, dimethylformamide, dimethylsulfoxide), the following complexes were obtained: [Fe(AN)6][FeCl4]2, [Fe(BN)6][FeCl4]2, trans-[Fe(DMF)4Cl2][FeCl4], [Fe(DMF)3Cl2][FeCl4], cis- and trans-[Fe(DMSO)4Cl2]Cl and trans-[Fe(DMSO)4Cl2][FeCl4], the structure of which was established on the basis of the IR, NGR, and electronic spectra. 3. The complex cis-[Fe(DMSO)4Cl2]2[FeCl4], containing Fe(II) and Fe(III),was synthesized, and its structure was determined.
