Notes: Certain classes of the exact solution of the equation of nonstationary potential flow of a compressible gas are found. The method described by Kalinowski [M. W. Kalinowski, J. Math. Phys. 25, 2620 (1984); Lett. Math. Phys. 6, 17 (1983); 7, 479 (1983)] is applied. These considerations are carried out locally at an established point of space of a hodograph. Some algebraic properties of simple integral elements are analyzed, and certain exact classes of solutions are constructed. Finally a certain physical analysis of the achieved results is carried out.

Notes: Abstract In this paper I discuss some philosophical problems concerning the geometrization of physics, and propose that geometrization and unification are strongly combined.

Notes: Summary The stability constants,K sof monensin complexes with Li+, Na+, K+ and Cs+ ions were studied by a competitive polarographic method using the Tl+/Tl(Hg) redox couple as a sensitive electrochemical probe. TheK svalues are strongly influenced by the solvents (acetonitrile, propionitrile, acetone, N,N-dimethylformamide, N-methyl pyrolidinone, N,N-dimethylacetamide, dimethylsulfoxide, N,N-diethylformamide and N,N-diethylacetamide were used in experiments) and vary inversely with the Gutmann donicity scale. Molecular mechanics computations revealed the probable structures of the complexes.

Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Das solvatochrome Verhalten vonbis-(Cyano)-bis-(9,10-phenanthrolin)-eisen(II) wurde in 19 Lösungsmitteln, darunter Wasser, Alkohole und dipolare aprotische Medien, spektrophotometrisch überprüft.
Notes: Summary The solvatochromic behaviour ofbis-(cyano)-bis-(9,10-phenanthroline)-iron(II) has been reexamined spectrophotometrically in a series of 19 solvents including water, alcohols and dipolar. aprotic media. Satisfactory correlations between the wave numbers of the long-wavelength band and solvent acceptor numbers are obtained in all media; only values, for carboxylic acids deviate from the regression line.

Notes: Abstract We present the nonsymmetric Kaluza-Klein and Jordan-Thiry theories as interesting propositions of physics in higher dimensions. We consider the five-dimensional (electromagnetic) case. The work is devoted to a five-dimensional unification of the NGT (nonsymmetric theory of gravitation), electromagnetism, and scalar forces in a Jordan-Thiry manner. We find “interference effects” between gravitational and electromagnetic fields which appear to be due to the skew-symmetric part of the metric. Our unification, called the nonsymmetric Jordan-Thiry theory, becomes the classical Jordan-Thiry theory if the skew-symmetric part of the metric is zero. It becomes the classical Kaluza-Klein theory if the scalar fieldρ=1 (Kaluza's Ansatz). We also deal with material sources in the nonsymmetric Kaluza-Klein theory for the electromagnetic case. We consider phenomenological sources with a nonzero fermion current, a nonzero electric current, and a nonzero spin density tensor. From the Palatini variational principle we find equations for the gravitational and electromagnetic fields. We also consider the geodetic equations in the theory and the equation of motion for charged test particles. We consider some numerical predictions of the nonsymmetric Kaluza-Klein theory with nonzero (and with zero) material sources. We prove that they do not contradict any experimental data for the solar system and on the surface of a neutron star. We deal also with spin sources in the nonsymmetric Kaluza-Klein theory. We find an exact, static, spherically symmetric solution in the nonsymmetric Kaluza-Klein theory in the electromagnetic case. This solution has the remarkable property of describing “mass without mass” and “charge without charge.” We examine its properties and a physical interpretation. We consider a linear version of the theory, finding the electromagnetic Lagrangian up to the second order of approximation with respect toh μv =g μv −n μv . We prove that in the zeroth and first orders of approximation there is no skewonoton interaction. We deal also with the Lagrangian for the scalar field (connected to the “gravitational constant”). We prove that in the zeroth and first orders of approximation the Lagrangian vanishes.

Notes: Abstract We present a new approach to the unification of gravity and non-Abelian gauge fields in the framework of Kaluza-Klein theory. It consists in introducing a new connection on the (n + 4)-dimensional manifoldP (metrized principal fiber bundle). This connection is metrical, but with nonvanishing torsion. An enormous cosmological term in the Einstein equations vanishes due to this connection. The new connection simultaneously cancels Planck's mass term in the Dirac equation for the five-dimensional case. The usual interpretation of geodesic equations is still valid.

Notes: Abstract In this paper we find some connections between simple (Riemann) waves and nonlinear representations of local gauge groups originating from orthogonal and pseudo-orthogonal groups. These representations are obtained by introducing fibre bundles for Riemann waves and are symmetries of the original equation.

Notes: Abstract The Klein-Kaluza theory with a nonvanishing torsion is developed. The torsion is associated with the spin and polarization of an electromagnetic field. The electromagnetic polarization is considered as a source of additional components of a torsion connected with a fifth dimension. It is proved that the new effects are 1036 times bigger than the effects from the Einstein-Cartan theory.
