Notes:
Summary Choline, a necessary compound in an artificial diet for phloem-feeding aphids, was determined quantitatively in the phloem exudates of 16 tree species. The method used was a combination of choline oxidase action and oxygen determination with an oxygen electrode. Choline was found in all species, the concentration ranging between 36 and 5340 μM.
