Summary General magnetohydrodynamic boundary layer equations are established for plane, stationary, incompressible, laminar flow. From these follow, according to the magnitude of the parameters (Reynolds numberR, magneticReynolds numberR m andAlfvén number β) the previously treated equations for the transversal and the longitudinal field and a number of additional equations. It is shown, that the assumptions-R is large and the thickness of boundary layer is inversely proportional to the square root ofR-are too restrictive. For a longitudinal field, withR m ≈R and β≫1, the thickness of boundary layer is inversely proportional to the fourth root ofR. In this case it is possible to give explicit solutions for the flow past a plate and the free jet.

Zusammenfassung Für stationäre, inkompressible, ebene, laminare Strömungen werden allgemeingültige magnetohydrodynamische Grenzschichtgleichungen aufgestellt, aus denen je nach Größe der Parameter (Reynolds-ZahlR, magnetischeReynolds-ZahlR m undAlfvén-Zahl β) sowohl die bisher schon behandelten Gleichungen für Quer- und Längsfeld als auch zahlreiche weitere Grenzschichtgleichungen folgen. Dabei zeigt sich, daß die bisher gemachten Voraussetzungen, daßR groß ist und daß die Grenzschichtdicke umgekehrt proportional zur Quadratwurzel ausR ist, zu eng gefaßt sind. Im Fall eines Längsfeldes mitR m ≈R und β≫1 wird die Grenzschichtdicke umgekehrt proportional zur 4. Wurzel ausR. Für diesen Fall lassen sich für die Plattenströmung und den Freistrahl explizite Lösungen angeben.
