    Notes: Thermodynamic equations are derived for physical adsorption of gases and vapors on fractal surfaces of heterogeneous microporous solids. The influence of surface geometry on gas adsorption on a microporous solid is studied by analyzing the dependence of the differential molar enthalpy ΔH, the immersion enthalpy ΔHim, and the differential molar entropy ΔS on the fractal dimension D, which is used to characterize the surface irregularity. It is shown that −ΔH, −ΔHim, −ΔS, and the average adsorption potential A¯ increase as the fractal dimension of the surface accessible for adsorption increases. The dependence of these thermodynamic quantities on the fractal dimension D is attributed to the fact that the fraction of small micropores in microporous solids increases as the fractal dimension D increases.

    Notes: Abstract Multilayer adsorption of multicomponent liquid mixtures on homogeneous and heterogeneous solid surfaces is discussed. Heterogeneity effects of the adsorbent surface have been taken into account in calculation of mole fractions of the components in the first adsorbed layer. The model calculations, illustrating multilayer and heterogeneity effects, have been performed for adsorption of ternary liquid mixtures.

Diese Gleichung schließt alle bisherigen Isothermengleichungen in sich ein, die Verallgemeinerungen der einfachenLangmuir-Isotherme für Adsorption auf heterogenen Festkörpern sind. Es wurden Daten der Adsorption von Phenol aus verdünnten Wasserlösungen auf aktivierte Kohle unter Verwendung der neuen Gleichung untersucht.
    Notes: Abstract A new isotherm equation is proposed for describing single-solute adsorption from dilute solution on energetically heterogeneous solids. This equation comprises all isotherm equations being an extension of simpleLangmuir isotherm to single-solute adsorption on heterogeneous solids. The phenol adsorption data from dilute aqueous solutions on activated carbon are studied by using this new equation.

Mit der aus dem Oberflächenüberschuß abgeleiteten Gleichung wurden entsprechende Modellberechnungen durchgeführt, die die mit Assoziation und Heterogenität verbundenen Effekte illustrieren. Die Gleichung wurde für die experimentellen Daten der Alkoholadsorption aus Benzol undn-Heptan an Kieselgel überprüft.
    Notes: Abstract A model of monolayer adsorption of binary liquid mixtures on homogeneous and heterogeneous solid surfaces involving association of one component in the bulk phase is discussed. Suitable model calculations, illustrating association and heterogeneity effects, have been performed according to an equation derived for adsorption excess. This equation has been examined by using the experimental data of adsorption of alcohols from benzene andn-heptane on silica gel.

Die speziellen Fälle dieser Gleichung sind:Langmuir-Freundlich-, Tóth- undFreundlich-Typ der Adsorptionsisotherme. Die Energieverteilung, die dieser Gleichung entspricht, gibt alle Typen einer einfachen Verteilung wieder, z. B. eine symmetrische Verteilung, eine abfallende exponentielle Verteilung und asymmetrische Verteilungen mit Erweiterung in die Richtung von niedriger oder hoher Adsorptionsenergie.
    Notes: Abstract A generalizedLangmuir equation is proposed for describing the monolayer adsorption of single gases on heterogeneous solids. The special cases of this equation are:Langmuir-Freundlich, Tóth andFreundlich type adsorption isotherms. The energy distribution function corresponding to this equation produces all types of simple energy distributions, i.e., symmetrical distribution, decreasing exponential distributions and asymmetrical distributions showing widening in the directions of low and high adsorption energies.

Mitt. beschrieben wurde, wird für die einlagige Adsorption mit lateralen Wechselwirkungen und für die viellagige Adsorption auf heterogenen Oberflächen mit einer Zufallsverteilung von Adsorptionsplätzen erweitert. Es werden neue Differentialfunktionen zur Untersuchung der mathematischen und physikalischen Eigenschaften dieser Gleichung eingeführt, die sich als fruchtbringend zur Interpretation von Adsorptionsdaten erweisen. Diese Funktionen werden zur Untersuchung von drei Gasadsorptionssystemen aus der Literatur herangezogen.
    Notes: Abstract The generalizedLangmuir equation proposed in part I is extended to monolayer adsorption with lateral interactions and to multilayer adsorption on heterogeneous surfaces with random distribution of adsorption sites. New differential functions, useful for interpreting the adsorption data, are introduced to study the mathematical and physical properties of this equation. These functions are applied to study three gas adsorption systems available from the literature.
