Description: In its comprehensive analysis of a wide range of primary and secondary sources in both Chinese and Western languages, this authoritative work stands as the definitive study of the theory, implementation and legacy of the Chinese Communist Party's thought-remolding campaign. This decades-long campaign involved the extraction of confessions from millions of Chinese citizens suspected of heterodoxy or disobedience to party dictates, along with their subjection to various forms of "re-education" and indoctrination. Hu Ping's carefully structured overview provides a valuable insider's perspective, and supersedes the previous landmark study on this vastly interesting topic.

Notes: Electrospinning represents an attractive approach for polymer processing. In the present study, gelatin and poly (propylene carbonate)(PPC) were electrospun successfully and collected on a rotating mandrel to form tubulose scaffolds. Furthermore, to mimic the real structure of animal blood vessels, the polymers were employed in a single tube as distinct layers by the technique of alternateelectrospinning. Scanning electronic microscopy (SEM) was used to analyze the morphology and diameter of the fibers, and the porosity of the scaffold. The tubes were seeded with rat bone marrow derived mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) and cultured for 2 weeks to evaluate their biocompatibility. The growth and distribution of the cells were observed directly under the fluorescent microscope. The interaction between cells and scaffold was analyzed by SEM and H&Estaining. After two weeks culture, the fibers were almost embedded by growing BMSCs. H&E staining and green fluorescent image showed that BMSCs uniformly grew inside the scaffolds. The results showed that electrospun tubes with uniform pores and fibers of smaller diameter were appropriate for BMSCs attachment and proliferation. These primary data indicated that scaffolds fabricated by ectrospinning are structurally biocompatible. The PPC scaffolds may be useful in vascular tissue engineering if they were further modified chemically or with appropriate therapeutic molecules

Notes: Abstract In this paper, the influences of various material parameters, the hardening exponent (n), the rate sensitivity (m). the thickness anisotropy parameter (R) and the index M in the Hosford and Hill yield function, on the hydrostatic bulging of a circular clamped sheet of ductile metal materials are analysed by introducting a rigid-viscoplastic finite element method. By numerical studies, an empirical relationship within the average limit thickness strain −ɛ 3 αγ* and the material parameters (n andm) is obtained. Besides, it has been found that the influences of surface shapes of the yield function on the average limit thickness strain can be reflected by the Barlat'sP value which represents the effects ofR andM values.

Notes: Abstract The common Prandtl-Reuss theory has been improved in this paper. A quasi-flow law of the isotropic hardening Mises materials has been proposed as well, on the basis of which, an efficient iterative algorithm of finite element analysis, hybrid / mixed vari-stiffness method, has been obtained. The numerical examples calculated by the plane stress / strain element model are given. Compared with the common initial stress method, the hybrid / mixed vari-stiffness method shows its advantages in the convergent speed, calculating accuracy and treatment scheme of the incompressibility of materials.

Notes: Orbital implant, used for filling the space after enucleation, played an important role inthe optical orthopedic operations. However, the clinical application of soft orbital implants was in a limited extent. This paper focused on the synthetic method of a new kind of soft poly (2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) (PHEMA) orbital implant. This method included two steps, making the orbital implant with through-holes by salt leaking method and improving the compress property of PHEMA by copolymerizing it with methyl methacrylate (MMA). Scanning electronic microscope (SEM), thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA), and compress experiment were carried outto evaluate the physical properties of the implant. And to evaluate the biocompatibility of this poly (HEMA-co-MMA) orbital implant, short term and long term observations were studied after subcutaneous implantation of material blocks and implantation of orbital implants (diameter in 14mm) in rabbits’ orbits

Notes: This paper focuses on an effective way to improve the thermostability ofpoly-β-hydroxybutyrate (PHB). Maleic anhydride (MA) is grafted onto PHB by 60Co γ of radiation. The spectra of both 1HNMR and 13CNMR were investigated following the radiation-induced polymerization. The results are consistent with successful grafting of the MA monomer onto the PHB, with a low graft degree. The graft degree and viscosity-average molecular weight Mηof the radiated samples were also investigated. The results observed through TGA demonstrate thatthermostability has been measurably improved with the introduction of MA groups. These significant results suggest that wide commercial application of PHB may be possible
