Notes:
Abstract The applicability of automatic dilutors for the flame-photometric estimation of sodium, potassium and calcium is investigated. The time required and the accuracy of the measurement are compared with the regular method. A further step of automation in this measuring procedure is the use of a digital voltmeter combined with a digital print-out system, which prints the results in concentration units of the original sample. In addition, sources of error are indicated when an automatic sampler is utilized. Finally, the combination of dispensers and dilutors with some other equipment, into a semi-automated system is shown and the results of sulfonamide estimations according to Bratton and Marshall obtained with this system are discussed in comparison with the same method carried out manually.
