    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Der Einfluß des Wassergehaltes (während der jeweiligen Messung) auf die Dichte, die Kristall- und die übermolekulare Struktur von Polyamid 6 und 6,6 wird untersucht. Die Befunde deuten darauf hin, daß die Wassermoleküle sowohl in die amorphen wie auch die Kristallbereiche eindringen können. Die Dichtezunahme infolge des Wassers ist um so größer, je geringer die Ausgangsdichte der Proben ist. Die Dichteänderung verläuft (partiell) reversibel mit dem Wassergehalt der Proben.
    Notes: Summary The influence of water content (during the actual measurement) on density, crystal and supermolecular structure of polyamid 6 and 6.6 has been investigated. The results indicate that the water molecules penetrate as well into the amorphous as into the crystalline regions. The increase in density due to the water content is found to be the higher the lower the initial density of the specimens is. The change of density takes a (partially) reversible course with the water content of the specimens.

    Description / Table of Contents: Summary Colloidal and crystallographic structure of drawn films and solution grown single crystals of polyacrylonitrile were investigated by small and wide angle X-ray scattering, electron scattering and electron microscopical observations. In contrast to the published results it is shown that in the case of drawn polyacrylonitrile there exists a periodical arrangement of more and less ordered regions which manifests in the appearance of a so called long period and which — as shown by comparative investigations on single crystals — can be described by a two-phase-model. Within the ordered regions chains are arranged building up a strongly disturbed but three-dimensional crystal lattice. The orthorhombic unit cell has the dimensiona=10,6 Å,b=11,6 Å,c=5,04 Å. Only the syndiotactic chain sequences are able to “crystallize”.
    Notes: Zusammenfassung Kolloid- und Kristallstruktur von verstreckten Folien und Fäden und aus verdünnten Lösungen hergestellten Einkristallen von Polyacrylnitril wurden mit Hilfe von Röntgenklein- und -weitwinkeluntersuchungen, Elektronenbeugung und Elektronenmikroskopie untersucht. Es kann gezeigt werden, daβ entgegen den bisher publizierten Ergebnissen bei dem verstreckten Polyacrylnitril eine periodische Abfolge von besser und schlechter geordneten Bereichen erzielt werden kann, die sich in dem Auftreten einer röntgenografisch erfaßbaren Langperiode äußert und, wie die vergleichenden Untersuchungen an Einkristallen zeigen, durch eine Zwei-Phasen-Struktur beschrieben werden kann. Innerhalb der besser geordneten Bereiche ordnen sich die Ketten, indem ein zwar stark gestörtes, aber dreidimensionales Gitter mit der orthorhombischen Elementarzellea=10,6 Å,b=11,6 Å,c=5,04 Å aufgebaut wird. „Kristallisationsfähig“ sind nur die syndiotaktischen Kettensequenzen des Polyacrylnitrils.

    Description / Table of Contents: Summary Heat of fusion, densities and long spacings of single crystals of fractionated and unfractionated polyethylene have been measured. The relation between measured heat of fusion and thickness of the crystals can be used for calculation of the heat of fusionΔH ∞ of a completely crystalline polyethylene and for an estimation of the free surface energyσ e of the crystals. In addition,ΔH ∞ can be calculated from the linear correlation between measured heat of fusion and specific volume of the samples. Both methods yield values ofΔH ∞ in agreement with the value observed with extended chain crystals of polyethylene. Using the density, enthalpy and long spacing measurements, the thickness of the disordered surface layers of the polyethylene crystals grown from dilute solutions can be calculated. This thickness does not depend on the crystallization conditions within the range applied during this work.
    Notes: Zusammenfassung Schmelzenthalpie, Dichte und röntgenographische Langperiode von Einkristallen aus unfraktioniertem und fraktioniertem Polyäthylen wurden bestimmt. Die Schmelzwärme des vollständig kristallinen Polyäthylens läßt sich aus der Abhängigkeit der gemessenen Schmelzenthalpie von der Dicke der Kristalle berechnen. Aus dem Zusammenhang von Schmelzenthalpie und Kristalldicke kann die freie Grenzflächenenergie der lamellaren Kristalle abgeschätzt werden. Darüber hinaus wird gezeigt, daß zwischen der Schmelzwärme und dem spezifischen Volumen der Einkristalle ebenfalls ein linearer Zusammenhang besteht, der auch zur Berechnung der Schmelzenthalpie des 100% kristallinen Polyäthylens benutzt werden kann. Die in dieser Arbeit nach den zwei Verfahren ermittelten Werte dieser Größe stimmen sehr gut mit demjenigen überein, der für extended-chain-Kristalle des Polyäthylens gefunden wurde. Aus den Dichte-, Enthalpie- und Langperiodenmessungen kann die Dicke der amorphen Grenzflächenschichten der Lamellen berechnet werden. Es ergibt sich, daß bei der Kristallisation aus der Lösung die Dicke der Grenzschichten unabhängig von den Kristallisationsbedingungen ist.

    Notes: Summary The kinetic of the crystallization process of slightly plasticized poly(vinylidenechloride) at room temperature (296 K) can be observed by FTIR spectroscopy. In dependence on the amount of plasticizer the half-time for crystallization decreases due to an increased segmental mobility of the stiff PVDC chains.

    Notes: Summary Microbially produced poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) (P(3HB)) and a copolymer were investigated by measuring tensile strength, Young's modulus and molar mass after different periods of thermal treatment at temperatures slightly above their melting temperatures in order to describe the changes of molecular and mechanical properties. The tensile strength turns out to be strongly influenced by time and temperature of heat treatment. After a heat treatment for 10 min at 190 °C the tensile strength drops to 30% of its initial value.

    Notes: Summary The presented paper deals with the ac-conductivity of undoped and doped poly(2,5-furandiylvinylene) (PFV). It is shown that the electrical conductivity as a complex physical quantity has to be splitted into a real and an imaginary part. Both parts depend on frequency, temperature, type and concentration of doping agents, and external pressure applied to the test specimens.
