Notes: [Auszug] The outstanding reflexions in the alpha-photograph of human hair are the meridional strong arc of spacing 5-15 A., made up of (020) flanked on either side by (120), and the composite equatorial reflexions (001), (101), (300) and (201), spread over 3 A. and having a mean spacing of 9 -8 A. Notes: [Auszug] It has been shown4 that an approximate density of vibrational states (frequency distribution) of a sample can be obtained experimentally by measuring the energy spectrum, after scattering from the sample, of a monochromatic incident beam of low energy neutrons. This offers the advantage over other ...

Notes: Poly(L-methionine) (PMet) is one of the two sulfur containing polyamino acids. Raman, FTIR spectra, and heat capacity measurements of PMet have been well interpreted through the normal mode analysis and the density of states derived therefrom. Earlier interpretation of heat capacity data is limited because it is based on the Tarasov model, wherein the concept of group frequency and skeletal similarity are used. A special feature of some dispersion curves is their tendency to bunch in the neighborhood of the helix angle. This has been attributed to the presence of strong intramolecular interactions. Repulsion between the dispersion curves is also observed. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. J Polym Sci B: Polym Phys 35: 2281-2292, 1997

Notes: Dispersion curves and frequency distribution for poly-L-hydroxyproline (PLHP) chain were obtained using Wilson's GF matrix method as modified by Higgs. These are compared with those of poly-L-proline II and polyglycine II, which also have three-fold screw symmetry. Ring and skeletal modes characteristic of PLHP are identified and the assignments of observed infrared and Raman frequencies are reported. Urey-Bradley force constants were evaluated.

Notes: Poly(β-benzyl-L-aspartate) (PBLA) is an unusual polypeptide, which is capable of going into four different conformations, namely, left-handed α helix, right-handed α helix, ω helix, and β pleated sheet. The present work is a complete study of normal modes and their dispersion in the unusual left-handed α form. A special feature of some of the dispersion curves is their tendency to bunch in the neighborhood of helix angle. This is attributed to the presence of strong intramolecular interactions. Crossing and repulsion between the dispersion curves is also observed. The N-deuterated analogue of PBLA has been studied to check the validity of assignments and force field (Urey Bradley). Specific heat has been obtained from dispersion curves via density of states. A comparative study of left-handed and right-handed forms is presented. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.

Description / Table of Contents: Umsetzungen von Titanalkoxiden mit N-MethylaminoalkoholenN-Methylaminoalkoxide des Titans vom Typ Ti(OR)4-n(O · CHR′ · CH2 · NR″R‴)n, die durch Umsetzungen von Titanalkoxiden mit Aminoalkoholen dargestellt wurden, zeigten interessante Unterschiede in ihren Eigenschaften.
Notes: N-methylaminoalkoxides of titanium of the type Ti(OR)4-n(O · CHR′ · CH2 · NR″R‴)n where R = Et and Pr1; n = 1-4; and R′ = R″ = H, R‴ = Me; R′ = H, R″ = R‴ = Me; R′ = R″ = R‴ = Me, synthesized by the reactions of titanium alkoxides with aminoalcohols, show interesting variations in their properties like physical state, volatility and molecular complexity. I.r. and p.m.r. spectra of these derivatives have been recorded. A few interchange reactions with methanol and tert-butanol have also been carried out. These aminoalkoxides get cleaved with acetyl chloride and undergo insertion reactions with phenylisocyanate, thus providing the first examples of insertion reactions in such derivatives.
