Conclusions -- The physicomechanical characteristics of gel-fibers from SHMPE which have been drawn to various stretch ratios have been studied. -- Temperature limits of the service conditions of gel-fibers from SHMPE have been determined. -- It has been found that gel-fibers from SHMPE which have a comparatively low stretch ratio (〈24) are not inferior in mechanical properties to synthetic fibers of other types. -- With increase in stretch ratio, the resistance of highly oriented PE fibers to long-term thermomechanical action is increased.
