    Description: Abstract Seismic spectral ratios between the 3 September 2017 North Korean nuclear test (NKT2017) and four earlier Korean tests (25 May 2009, NKT2009; 12 February 2013, NKT2013; 6 January 20016, NKT2016J; and 9 September 2016, NKT2016S) are investigated. All the observed teleseismic P wave spectral ratios exhibit a unique notch at approximately 2.5 Hz, but it is not observed for spectral ratios of regional P and Lg waves. Meanwhile, for a given event pair, the network‐averaged Lg wave spectral ratio is similar to that of regional P wave, but with the explosions' source corner frequencies significantly reduced, supporting the conjecture by Fisk (2006, https://doi.org/10.1785/0120060023). We demonstrated that the observed notch of teleseismic P wave spectral ratios may be well modeled with interference between pP and P waves with an apparent pP‐P time delay ΔtpP of about 0.4 s for NKT2017, while regional P wave spectral ratios may be well fitted with source spectral ratios predicted by classical explosion source models including Mueller and Murphy (1971, https://doi.org/10.2172/4107998) (MM71), Denny and Johnson (1991, https://doi.org/10.1029/gm065p0001) (DJ91), and their two hybrids. Via the above modeling, yield sizes of the explosions and the depth of burials of NKT2009–2016S are determined as functions of NKT2017's buried depth h0. Our result indicate that, for h0 in the range of 600–1,100 m, the MM71‐related models give yield estimations about 100–300 kt for NKT2017, 3–7 kt for NKT2009, 6–15 kt for NKT2013 and NKT2016J, and 10–25 kt for NKT2016S, while yield sizes obtained by model DJ91 are much smaller. Nevertheless, for all the above source models, the obtained depths of burial estimations of NKT2009–2016S are always significantly smaller than NKT2017's depth of burial h0.

    Description: Field observations and satellite geodesy indicate that little crustal shortening has occurred along the central to southern margin of the eastern Tibetan plateau since about 4 million years ago. Instead, central eastern Tibet has been nearly stationary relative to southeastern China, southeastern Tibet has rotated clockwise without major crustal shortening, and the crust along portions of the eastern plateau margin has been extended. Modeling suggests that these phenomena are the result of continental convergence where the lower crust is so weak that upper crustal deformation is decoupled from the motion of the underlying mantle.     Description: Using next-generation sequencing technology alone, we have successfully generated and assembled a draft sequence of the giant panda genome. The assembled contigs (2.25 gigabases (Gb)) cover approximately 94% of the whole genome, and the remaining gaps (0.05 Gb) seem to contain carnivore-specific repeats and tandem repeats. Comparisons with the dog and human showed that the panda genome has a lower divergence rate. The assessment of panda genes potentially underlying some of its unique traits indicated that its bamboo diet might be more dependent on its gut microbiome than its own genetic composition. We also identified more than 2.7 million heterozygous single nucleotide polymorphisms in the diploid genome.     Description: A thermally stable 3 x 3 octahedral molecular sieve corresponding to natural todorokite (OMS-1) has been synthesized by autoclaving layer-structure manganese oxides, which are prepared by reactions of MnO(4)(-) and Mn(2+) under markedly alkaline conditions. The nature and thermal stability of products depend strongly on preparation parameters, such as the MnO(4)(-)/Mn(2+) ratio, pH, aging, and autoclave conditions. The purest and the most thermally stable todorokite is obtained at a ratio of 0.30 to 0.40. Autoclave treatments at about 150 degrees to 180 degrees C for more than 2 days yield OMS-1, which is as thermally stable (500 degrees C) as natural todorokite minerals. Adsorption data give a tunnel size of 6.9 angstroms and an increase of cyclohexane or carbon tetrachloride uptake with dehydration temperature up to 500 degrees C. At 600 degrees C, the tunnel structure collapses. Both Lewis and Bronsted acid sites have been observed in OMS-1.     Description: Semi-closed single screw refrigeration compressors (SSRC) are widely used in refrigeration and air conditioning systems owing to the advantages of simple structure, balanced forces on the rotor, high volumetric efficiency and so on. In semi-closed SSRCs, motor is often cooled by suction gas or injected refrigerant liquid. Motor cooling method will changes the suction gas temperature, this to a certain extent, is an important factor influencing the thermal dynamic performance of a compressor. Thus the effects of motor cooling method on the performance of the compressor must be studied. In this paper mathematical models of motor cooling process by using these two methods were established.     Description: In this work, we have succeeded in obtaining high quality warm w -LEDs by adopting hybrid two-dimensional (2D) structure of SiN x photonic crystal layer (PCL) assisted cyan-emitting ceramic-plate thiosilicate SrLa 2 Si 2 S 8 :Ce 3+ with red-emitting film SrLiAl 3 N 4 :Eu 2+ phosphor on a 430 nm blue LED chip at 350 mA. 2D SiN x PCL was capped with thiosilicate is because it can enhance the luminous efficacy and maintain the low correlated color temperature (CCT) and high color-rendering index (CRI). High luminous efficacy (82.3 lm/W), high special CRI (R 9 = 75) as well as the low CCT (5431 K) of the optimal w -LED was obtained due to the assistances of 2D SiN x PCL and narrow-band red-emitting phosphor with the doping percentage at 10 wt%. The synthesis processes, structural analysis, optical properties and LED device performances were detailed investigated to find out the relationship between the optimum composition and good optical properties. Based on intriguing luminescence properties by the 2D SiN x PCL and red-emitting film phosphor introducing, we proclaim this method could also have high potential application in other phosphor-converted w -LEDs.
