Description / Table of Contents:
KAsO3, appearing in three forms stable at different ranges of temperature, is formed on dehydration of KH2AsO4. From these three forms the γ-form is obtained stable and the β-form metastable at room temperature, the α-form however only stable above 530°C. From mixtures of KH2AsO4 and KH2PO4, potassium arsenatophosphates are formed, those rich in arsenic, exist in three forms corresponding to those of KAsO3. Potassium arsenatophosphates, rich in phosphate, as well exist in three forms, which can be proved by thermal analysis and Debye photographs; they correspond to three forms of KPO3, (A), (B), (C). Photographs of heating cameras show that the α-form of the potassium arsenatophosphates, rich in arsenic, mostlikely is isomorphous with the (B)-form of KPO3, which is stable between 510°C and 670°C. γ-KAsO3 and the γ-arsenatophosphates rich in arsenic, contain high-molecular linear chain anions, in which the P and As atoms are statistically distributed. The hydrate K2HAsO4 · 3 H2O, unknown up to now, is prepared for the first time.
Notes:
