Notes: Close cooperation between DSM, Werner & Pfleiderer, and Reifenhäuser has resulted in the development of a continuous process in which a filled copolymer polypropylene (40% talc and 40% chalk) is compounded and extruded to sheets which, whether or not bonded to carpet (semifinished product), are ready for subsequent deep drawing. Addition of recycled material (up to 100%) is possible: the stability of the material is sufficient when some fresh stabilizer is added to the PP copolymer and when a suitable talc is chosen. Mixing and degassing are guaranteed and temperature level, temperature distribution, constancy of throughput, and pressure buildup capacity of the ZSK are sufficient for a continuous, direct process, yielding a uniform quality. Flexibility and economy are the result.
