Notes: The isothermal oxidation behavior of a new developed Ni base superalloy named DM02for high temperature dies was studied in this paper. The dynamic curve was achieved by monitoringweight gain of the alloy as a function of time. The results showed that the alloy had fairly goodoxidation resistance at 1050°C and 1100°C. The oxidation kinetics at both 1050°C and 1100°Cfollowed parabolic rules in segment. It has been found that the oxidation of the alloy was controlledby multi-oxides of (Ni, Co)O, (Ni, Co)Al2O4, and NiWO4, growth mechanism in the primary stage, and by Al2O3, NiAl2O4 growth mechanism in the following stage. After oxidation at 1050°C for 100h,the oxide scale of the alloy was mainly composed of two areas. Some were thin uniform (Ni,Co)Al2O4(outer)/Al2O3 (inner) composites scale and others were multi-layer oxide scale of ( Ni,Co)O/ multi-oxides (mainly NiWO4、NiO and NiAl2O4.) /Al2O3

Notes: The effect of Ta, Nb, Hf and Zr on the microstructure and high temperature tensileproperties of DM02 alloy, which is a novel developed Ni base superalloy for high temperature diematerial, had been studied in this paper. The results showed that the four alloying elements affect thecomposition and morphology of carbides obviously, and have almost no effect on the morphology andsize of γ´ phase in DM02 alloy. 0.5-1wt% Hf make the morphology of MC carbide change frombone-like to blocky and inhibit the formation of primary M6C carbide, thus improve the ductility ofDM02 alloy, while 0.1wt% Zr has no similar effect. The strengthening effect of 3wt% Ta is betterthan that of 1.5wt% Nb. DM02 alloy with 3wt% Ta and 0.5wt% Hf has high strength and goodductility at 1050°C

Notes: We have developed and tested a promising type of superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) microscope, which can be used to detect vortex motion and can operate in magnetic fields over a large temperature range. The system utilizes a single-loop coupling transformer, consisting of a patterned high Tc superconducting thin film. At one end of the transformer, a 20 μm diam detecting loop is placed close to the sample. At the other end, a large loop is coupled to a NbTi coil, which is connected to a low Tc SQUID sensor. Transformers in a variety of sizes have been tested and calibrated. The results show that the system is capable of detecting the motion of a single vortex. We have used the microscope to study the behavior of moving vortices at various positions in a YBa2Cu3O7 thin film bridge. © 2000 American Institute of Physics.

Notes: Mechanical and dielectric loss measurements were carried out in the BaTiO3 ceramics doped with Co at frequencies between 0.01 Hz and 1 MHz as a function of temperature from −150° to 150°C. The relaxation peak observed in the ferroelectric phase with an activation energy of 0.27 eV is assumed to be related to the motion of oxygen vacancies. This peak could be because of the reorientation of an electrical dipole made of oxygen vacancies and Co3+ ions in the lattice. Furthermore, another loss peak located just below the Curie temperature Tc could be interpreted as hysteretic motion of the domain walls in a regime where the domain wall density is changing.

Notes: Compositional graded thin films of (Ba0.8Sr0.2)(Ti1-xZrx)O3 (BSTZ) are grown on MgO by pulsed laser deposition technique with four BSTZ ceramic targets. Gradients of composition are achieved by artificially tailoring composition in multilayered thin films to form compositional graded layers (CGL). In each CGL four individual layers of BSTZ with x = 0.36, 0.18, 0.08 and 0 are grown^in series with equal thickness. Three kinds of CGL samples comprising one, two or four CGLs have been elaborated with the same total thickness by varying the thickness of each CGL. Raman spectra show existence of tetragonal structure in all the multilayered BSTZ thin films. Raman peak at 535 cm-1 shifts to high frequency with increasing of compositional gradient, and the peak at 750 cm-1 also shows a small shift to high frequency. Moreover, other Raman peak is observed at about 830 cm-1,which is associated with phonon mode of cubic phase, and such peak shifts towards lower frequency with increasing of compositional gradient. The shift of Raman peak is related to variation of internal stress in BSTZ thin film due to increasing compositional gradient

Notes: The effect of ion implantation of yttrium on the oxidation behavior of Ni3Al base alloyIC6 at 1100℃ was investigated by SEM/EDS, TEM and XRD methods. The results indicated that after Y ion implantation, the surface of IC6 alloy changed from large column crystals to fine distributed nano-crystals, and the density of dislocations in distorted region increased with the implanted ions dose, which can act as high-diffusivity path and oxide core. Comparing to un-implanted IC6 alloy, Y-implantation increased the oxidation rate of IC6 alloy in initial 25 h at 1100℃, but decreased the maximum weight gain and the oxidation rate in final period. Moreover, the oxide scales of Y-implanted IC6 alloy were more continuous and compact due to the benefit effect of yttrium, and had better coherence to substrate through reduction of oxide grain size resulting in oxide scale plasticity improvement. Hence the proper amount of implanted Y could improve the oxidation resistance of IC6 alloy at 1100℃ in air slightly

Notes: A conventional cast nickel-base superalloy with the chemical composition of Ni-16W-2Mo-1.5Cr-6Al wt % has been recently developed as isothermal forging die material operating at temperatures above 1000℃. The oxidation test results showed that the oxide scale spalled heavily after exposure in air at 1050℃ for 100 h, which is unacceptable for the process of isothermal forging. To improve the high temperature oxidation resistance, 3 wt% Ta was added into the alloy. Specimens after oxidation test were analyzed by the scanning electron microscope (SEM) and the X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD). The results showed that the oxides were mainly NiO, NiWO4, and NiAl2O4 for all the samples. The oxidation resistance of the alloy with 3wt%Ta was fairly good at 1050℃ with the mass gain rate of around 0.016g/m2•h and spallation of oxides less than 2g/m2 within 100h.The SEM results showed that a continuous protective layer of Al2O3 has been formed under the layer of NiO for the alloy containing Ta

Notes: In this work, BST (x=0.7, 0.5, 0.3) films have been deposited onto Nb-SrTiO3 substrate with pulsed laser deposition. The crystal structure and surface morphology have been characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and atomic force microscopy, respectively. XRD results revealed that in certain elaboration condition the films were aligned along (00l) direction, normal to the substratesurface. The dielectric loss, relative dielectric permitivity, and polarization of BST films strongly depended on Sr content at room temperature. The tunability of relative dielectric permitivity of BST films exhibited strongly dependence on Sr content, and BST-0.5 shows the maximun K (K = tunability/loss) value

Notes: In this investigation, 3wt.% Ru was added to a low Cr and high W content superalloywith a nominal composition of Ni-10Co-1.5Cr-2.0Mo-1.0Nb-5.5Al-1.2Ti-0.1C-0.02B (wt.%) andboth the Ru-free and the Ru-bearing alloys were directionally solidified. The multi-step heattreatment, thermal exposure and stress rupture test were performed. The results indicate that Ru is aweak positive segregation element (k’=Cinterdendrite / Cdendrite= 1.03). The solubility of Ru in γ phaseis 30% higher than that of in γ' phase. Ru hardly enters into MC carbides, but can effectively retardthe formation of M6C carbides. Ruthenium reduces the amount of eutectic (γ+γ'), decreases solidsolution temperature of γ' phase, and promotes the rafting tendency of γ/γ' at elevated temperatures.Ru-bearing alloy possesses rather higher life at 1100°C/118MPa due to decrease of the film-likeM6C carbides. The addition of Ru can inhibit the formation of M6C and eutectic γ', which hinder theinitiation and propagation of cracks

Notes: We present Mg and Ti co-doped NiO-based polycrystalline ceramic with high-permittivitydielectric properties. Analysis of the ceramic’s microstructure and composition proves that obvious grainboundaries NiTiO3 are formed. The measurements of frequency and temperature dependence ofimpedance and dielectric permittivity indicate that the grain and grain boundaries have remarkableinfluence on the dielectric properties due to the various activation energies
