Es wurden jedoch verallgemeinerte lineare Superpositionsprinzipien für Dehnung und Spannung an Stelle desBoltzmannschen Prinzips vorgeschlagen, und man hat gefunden, daß diese mit den Versuchsergebnissen in Übereinstimmung waren.
    Notes: Summary Wool fibres, previously wet out and conditioned to a constant relative humidity and temperature environment, exhibit viscoelastic properties which change with conditioning time. Aging wool is therefore not linear viscoelastic in the usual sense. However generalized linear superposition principles for strain and stress have been proposed in place of theBoltzmann principle and these have been shown to be consistent with the experimental results obtained.

    Notes: The bending stress relaxation and subsequent recovery behavior were determined for merino wool, nylon, and Terylene fibers. The effect of four experimental parameters were investigated, viz., the level of bending strain (0.5-4%), the time of stress relaxation before release (1-1000 min), the relative humidity (0-85%), and the temperature (20°-60°C). For small strains the merino and nylon fibers displayed behavior characteristic of linear viscoelastic materials, while Terylene exhibited a degree of nonrecoverable set. It was possible to construct master recovery curves for fibers held bent for different times before release. These curves can be used as a more convenient means of presenting the results. A relationship was found, for each fiber type, between the percentage stress relaxation and the time taken to recover to a given level of set. This relationship appeared to be independent of the experimental conditions employed. Although the fibers were not linear viscoelastic under all conditions, recovery could be roughly predicted from their stress relaxation behavior at the particular test conditions using the Boltzmann superposition principle.

    Notes: A generalized form of the equations of linear viscoelasticity is presented which enables theoretical treatment of situations where a material is not at equilibrium with its environment and/or is subjected to a changing environment. These generalized equations are used successfully to predict the recovery behavior of wool and nylon fibers from bending deformations in experiments involving conditions of changing temperature and relative humidity.

    Description: Three different radio techniques were used to study the electrical properties of the surface of Venus. The reflectivity of the surface at near normal incidence was studied using radar from the Pioneer Venus Orbiter (PVO) spacecraft. These measurements have inferred the corresponding dielectric constants. Surface emissivities were calculated using measurements of thermal emission brightness temperature obtained both from spacecraft and from the ground. These measurements also have inferred dielectric constant. The degree of linear polarization associated with thermal energy emitted from the surface at various angles was examined. The dielectric constant was calculated. The radar data have provided the highest surface resolution of the three techniques, and were the first to show the unusually high values of Fresnel reflection coefficient (approaching 0.40 in extreme cases) that are associated with many of the elevated regions of Venus. The distribution of small scale surface roughness was estimated.
