Investigations on lead leaching of CuZn.39Pb3 (C38500) - test methods according to British Standard BS 7766 and NSF Standard 61By the revision of the draft of the EU Drinking Water Directive, the limit value of lead will be reduced from actually 40 μg/l to 10μg/l in Germany. Therefore, the test methods British Standard BS 7766 and NSF Standard 61 were selected and examined with regard to practicability and value of information. The lead leaching of CuZn39Pb3 (C38500) was determined and evaluated with both methods. This well known free-maching brass definitely fulfills the requirements of both test methods.

Im Zuge der Revision der Europäischen Trinkwasserverordnung wird der Grenzwert für Blei in Trinkwasser in Deutschland voraussichtlich von derzeit 40 μg/l auf 10 μg/l abgesenkt. Vor diesem Hintergrund wurden die Testverfahren British Standard BS 7766 und NSF Standard 61 ausgewählt und ihre Durchführbarkeit und Aussagefähigkeit untersucht. Die Bleiabgabe von CuZn39Pb3 an Trinkwasser wurde nach beiden Verfahren ermittelt und bewertet. Es zeigt rich, daß dieser weitverbreitete Zerspanungswerkstoff die derzeitigen Anforderungen beider Testverfahren erfüllt.
