Abstract Two more precisely defined approaches to study of the thermoelastic equilibrium of multilayer orthotropic shells, the physicomechanical characteristics of whose materials depend arbitrarily on the heating temperature, are presented. The calculation of a three-layer rigidly fixed cylindrical shell, the filler material of which depends linearly on heating temperature, is performed on the basis of these approaches. Recommendations are given for the expediency of the use of the approaches proposed.
