Notes: Creep property of solder alloys is one of the important factors to effect the reliability ofsurface mount technology (SMT) soldered joints. The creep behavior and its rupture life ofSn2.5Ag0.7CuXRE lead-free soldered joints were separately investigated and predicted underconstant temperature by a single shear lap creep specimen with a 1mm2 cross sectional area andfinite element method (FEM) in this paper. Results show that the creep property ofSn2.5Ag0.7Cu0.1RE is superior to that of the commercial employed lead-free solder Sn3.8Ag0.7Cuand the creep rupture life of its soldered joints is 8.4 times more than that of Sn2.5Ag0.7Cu solder. The creep rupture life of Sn2.5Ag0.7CuXRE lead-free soldered joints indirectly predicted by FEMis better in accord with that of actual testing results, which are important to design the reliability oflead-free soldered joints for SMT

Notes: Abstract By utilizing the behavior of twisted fiber yarn, prestressing composites can be made. In unloading, the matrix of the prestressing composite is applied in compression. If tensile load acts on the composite, the value of the tensile stress acting on the materials may decrease greatly. By twisted fiber yarn, therefore, the tensile strength of the composites can be improved. An analysis for extension of continuous fiber yarns is made here and residual stress after curing is taken into account. The prestressing intensity in the composite depends on the twist of fiber yarn. The photoelastic test and the analysis of electron micrograph are performed, and the theoretical method for calculating prestressing effect is presented in this paper.

Notes: Strengthened coating on the surface of 35CrMo steel alloy was deposited byelectrospark process using NiCr electrode. The bond strength and microhardness of the coating waschecked and the microstructure of the strengthened coating was analyzed using the opticalmicro-scope, X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersionspectrum (EDS). The results show that the bond strength between the coating and the base metal is495.1MPa, and the hardness of the coating surface is about 2 times than that of the base metal, andthe property of the workpieces surface has become better. The coating is a metallurgical reactingbonding layer between the base metal and the NiCr electrode, and its main ingredients are FeNi andNiCrFe

Notes: Abstract The spectral characteristic of an optically pumped NH3 molecules FIR laser has been studied by a F-P interferometer and a Michelson interferometer. It was verified that when NH3 molecules were pumped by CO2-9R(16) line, a emission by Raman transitions of two photons was produced. When the gas pressure of NH3 increased, the interaction of the Raman transitions rose, then the emission was enhanced and the width of spectral lines were broadened. The experimental results are in good agreement with the theoretical calculations.

Notes: Abstract The output power of a miniature OPFIRL was affected by the reflectivity of the inner wall of the sample tube. The greater the transverse feedback enhancement, the greater the output power. There was double-peak of the operating pressure when the transverse feedback was strong enough.

Notes: Abstract In this paper, the density matrix equation of a six-level system has been solved, in case of the FIR wave signals in the system were not small enough to be neglected. The output power density of the laser system has been calculated by means of the iteration method. The saturation effect of the system has been revenled by the numerical calculation. Several sets of curves of laser output power vs, the length of laser with defferent pumping detuning and the optimum operating pressure under certain condition have been obtained. These calculated values were in good agresment with the data provided in the literatures.

Notes: Abstract In miniature optically pumped FIR laser, NH3 molecules pumped by CO2 9R(16) produce a pair of FIR Raman transition: s→aP(7,0) and a→aP(7,1), which are very close in frequency. When the operating gas pressure is high, the interaction enhancement effect occurs, making the FIR output enhance very much.

Notes: Pyrolysis-GC/mass spectrometry experiments reveal that naphthalene groups attached to maleated polyethylene as the 1-naphthylethyl ester are stable for relatively long periods of time at 170°C. Decomposition can be detected for samples heated for 2.0 min at 200°C, but even at that temperature, the extent of decomposition is very small. At higher temperatures, two of the decomposition products from the labeled polymer are readily understood: 1-vinylnaphthalene and 1-naphthylethanol can form by reactions that are well-precedented in the organic chemistry literature. At 200°C, only naphthalene is formed, which requires scission of the bond between the naphthyl ring and the C1 carbon of the ethyl group. We suggest two possible pathways for this reaction. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. J Polym Sci A: Polym Chem 34:2045-2049, 1996

Notes: Abstract A finite difference method at arbitrary meshes for the bending of plates with variable thickness is presented in this paper. The method is completely general with respect to various boundary conditions, load cases and shapes of plates. This difference scheme is simple and the numerical results agree well with those obtained by other methods.

Notes: Abstract By using the adaptive steplength integration scheme with a shooting technique, a rather difficult singular perturbation problem of ordinary differential equations with boundary layers can be calculated effectively. Computing examples are given in this paper which show the convergence within one iteration of the method in the case of a linear problem, the efficiency of the method for many boundary layers and turning points, especially the convenience in calculating multiple solutions. A comparison with traditional difference method is given at the end of this paper.
