Conclusions 1. The possibility of using thin-layer chromatography to monitor the process of production of succinimide additives has been demonstrated. The conditions of thin-layer Chromatographic separation of the unreacted polyethylenepolyamine from the succinimide additive and the unreacted maleic anhydride from alkenylsuccinic anhydride (aluminum oxide of II–III degree of activity; solvent: a 1∶2 mixture of n-propanol and ammonia or a 1∶3 mixture of ethanol and ammonia) were found. 2. It was shown that a linear dependence of the square root of the area of the spot on the logarithm of the weight of the substance is correct for polyethylenepolyamines and for maleic anhydride. 3. Methods were proposed for the quantitative determination of unreacted polyethylenepolyamine in succinimide additives and unreacted maleic anhydride in alkenylsuccinic anhydride.
