    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Aufgrund ihres Enamincharakters reagieren die Methylen-N-heterocyclen1–5 mit cyclischen 2-Ethoxymethylen-1,3-dicarbonylverbindungen6 zu den 2-[2-(Hetaryliden)ethyliden]-1,3-dicarbonylverbindungen7–14. Das Ergebnis der Reaktionen zwischen 1,2-Dihydro-1-methyl-2-methylen-chinolin (1a) und cyclischen 1,3-Dicarbonylverbindungen hängt von der Natur der zwischenzeitlich entstehenden DihydroverbindungenA/B ab. Die Intermediat-KetoneA gehen durch Dehydrierung während der Reaktion in die 2-(1,2-Dimethyl-4(1H)chinolyliden)-1,3-dicarbonylverbindungen17–21 über. Die Intermediat-EnoleB mit sechsgliedrigem Dicarbonylring bilden in intramolekularer Reaktion die 6,12-Methano-dibenz[d,g][1,3]oxazocinone22–25, deren Struktur am Beispiel der Verbindung23 durch1H-NMR sowie durch Röntgenkristallstrukturanalyse bewiesen wird.

The result of the reactions between 1,2-dihydro-1-methyl-2-methylene-quinoline (1a) and cyclic 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds depends on the nature of the dihydro intermediatesA/B.     Notes: The swelling of newly synthesized slightly crosslinked gels of polyvinylcaprolactam (PVCa) was studied as a function of temperature. In water, PVCa gels undergo a sharp volume transition from a swollen to a collapsed state on heating. In water/alcohol mixtures, the gel first shrinks and then expands as the temperature is raised. The swelling behavior of the thermosensitive PVCa gel in surfactant solution depends on kind and concentration of the surfactant. Normally, an additional swelling of the gel is observed in the presence of ionic surfactants. Addition of the surfactant raises the collapse transition temperature of the gel. Absorption of the surfactant by the PVCa gel as a function of temperature and surfactant concentration is analysed in detail.

    Description: The benthic invertebrate (zoobenthos) fauna in Vietnamese seawaters was surveyed in April - May, 1999. Zoobenthos specimen were sampled by Smith-McIntyre grab on 38 stations and 180 species were recorded and composed of 5 major groups: Polychaeta, Crustacea, Mollusca, Echinodermata and others. The total of density and biomass zoobenthos in Vietnamese seawaters was 156.7 ind/m2 and 5943.0 mg/m2 respectively. Polychaeta and Mollusca were groups with the highest abundance in every cases considered. The remaining groups of zoobenthos such as Crustacea and Echinodermata which were lower in abundance but higher in biomass. There was a remarkable variation of zoobenthos both in species composition and density with the depth, substrate and spatial distribution. Abundance was higher in some subjects considered such as: in depth of 0 - 60m or in types of sandy components or in the Tonkin gulf and the Southeast regions. All diversity indices shown that water quantity in Vietnamese sea offshore in survey time was just satisfactory and good.

    Description: 360-degree video streaming for high-quality virtual reality (VR) is challenging for current wireless systems because of the huge bandwidth it requires. However, millimeter wave (mmWave) communications in the 60 GHz band has gained considerable interest from the industry and academia because it promises gigabit wireless connectivity in the huge unlicensed bandwidth (i.e., up to 7 GHz). This massive unlicensed bandwidth offers great potential for addressing the demand for 360-degree video streaming. This paper investigates the problem of 360-degree video streaming for mobile VR using the SHVC, the scalable of High-Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) standard and PC offloading over 60 GHz networks. We present a conceptual architecture based on advanced tiled-SHVC and mmWave communications. This architecture comprises two main parts. (1) Tile-based SHVC for 360-degree video streaming and optimizing parallel decoding. (2) Personal Computer (PC) offloading mechanism for transmitting uncompressed video (viewport only). The experimental results show that our tiled extractor method reduces the bandwidth required for 360-degree video streaming by more than 47% and the tile partitioning mechanism was improved by up to 25% in terms of the decoding time. The PC offloading mechanism was also successful in offloading 360-degree decoded (or viewport only) video to mobile devices using mmWave communication and the proposed transmission schemes.

    Description: Heat-Assisted Magnetic Recording (HAMR) is a likely successor of Perpendicular Magnetic Recording (PMR) in the Hard disk drive industry. In PMR, recording performance is strongly affected by the following distributions in magnetic granular media: magnetic anisotropy field ( H K ), volume/grain size, and interaction field from neighboring grains. Since HAMR writing occurs in a narrow temperature region below Curie point ( T c ), additional grain-to-grain T c variation would strongly affect HAMR recording performance. Thus, T c distribution should be examined for successful HAMR media development. In this paper, we demonstrate a new approach of extracting H K and T c distributions (σ H K and σ T c ) from thermo-remanence measurements. During the measurement process, a thin film is magnetically saturated, laser heated to specific peak temperature (for a time typically of 5 μ s), then cooled to room temperature and magnetic thermo-remanence is measured. Analytical fit to the experimental curves enables independent evaluation of both σ T c (±0.5% absolute) and σ H K (±2% absolute). Parameters of the analytical statistical model include: temperature dependencies M s ( T ), H K ( T ); mean field effective demagnetization factor N ; grain size, H K ; and T c distributions. Thermal fluctuations are taken into account using Arrhenius-Neel formalism. Here, we report experimental σ T c values as a function of grain volume. Increase of σ T c with grain size reduction might be a limiting factor for HAMR extendibility.

    Description: We use Granger causality to investigate the influences of external forcings on sub-decadal variability of regional near-surface air temperature (SAT) in past millennium simulations (period 850-1850 AD) of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 5 (CMIP5) models. Our results strengthen the conclusion for robust influence of volcanic forcing on SAT during preindustrial times of last millennium. The SAT response to solar variations is detected in tropical and subtropical regions. In other regions, this response is weak. The impact of greenhouse gases (GHGs) radiative forcing to regional SAT is weak and uncertain. This is most probably due to the low amplitude of the variations in GHGs, and hence weak GHGs forcing during the preindustrial millennium. The low agreement between models in simulating the impacts of solar variations on SAT in several regions suggests the different dynamical responses in these models, possibly associated with inaccurate parameterization of the processes related to solar forcing. Our analysis suggests that internal climate variability played a more significant role than external forcings in short term SAT variability in the regions of the North Atlantic, the North Pacific, the Arctic and Antarctic Peninsula and its surrounding oceans. The possibility of long-term impacts of external forcings on SAT and the uncertainties that might be contained due to effects of internal climate modes other than ENSO underscore the necessity for a more detailed understanding of the dynamical response of SAT to external forcings.
