    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Es wurden einige neue Komplexe von Sb(III) und Bi(III) mit Tiosemicarbazonen von Furfural, Thiophen-2-carbaldehyd, Indol-3-carbaldehyd und Pyridin-2-carbaldehyd hergestellt und mittels Elementaranalyse, Leitfähigkeitsmessungen, Molekulargewichtsbestimmungen und IR-,1H- bzw.13C-NMR-Spektroskopie charakterisiert. Die Komplexe sind vom TypMX 3 L[M=Sb(III) oder Bi(III);X=Chlorid;L=Ligand] und sind inDMF Nichtelektrolyten. Die spektroskopischen Daten zeigen, daß die Thiosemicarbazone als zweizähnige Liganden über den Azomethin-Stickstoff und Schwefel wirken.
    Notes: Summary Several new complexes of Sb(III) and Bi(III) with thiosemicarbazones of furfuraldehyde, thiophene-2-carbaldehyde, indol-3-carbaldehyde and pyridine-2-carbaldehyde have been prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, conductivity, molecular weight determination and IR,1H-and13C-NMR spectral studies. The ligands form complexes of the typeMX 3 L[M=Sb(III) or Bi(III);X=chloride;L=ligand] which are found to be non-electrolytes inDMF. Spectral data indicate that the thiosemicarbazones act as bidentate ligands through the azomethine nitrogen and sulphur.

    Notes: Abstract Bibasic tetradentateSchiff bases having the donor system OH−NX−NX−OH have been shown to form UO2(NO3)2(SBH2) type of derivatives [SBH2 is the molecule of the bibasic tetradentateSchiff bases such as HOC6H4C(R)∶ ∶N(CH2) n N∶C(R)C6H4OH (where R=H or CH3 andn=2 or 3) and HOC(R′)∶CHC(CH3)∶N(CH2) n N∶C(CH3)CH∶ ∶C(R′)OH (where R′=CH3 or C6H5 andn=2 or 3)]. The 1∶1 stoichiometry of these complexes is shown by elemental analysis and conductometric titrations. The molar conductence values in nitrobenzene indicate the non-electrolytic behaviour and the magnetic susceptibility measurements by the Gouy method show these complexes to be diamagnetic.

    Notes: Abstract Reactions of La(III), Pr(III), Nd(III) or Sm(III) nitrate with bifunctional tetradentateSchiff base, [o-HOC6H4C(CH3): :NCH2]2, having the donor system HO−N−N−OH in 1∶2 molar ratio have been investigated and found to yield new derivatives of the type [Ln(SBH2)2](NO3)3 [whereLn=La(III), Pr(III), Nd(III) or Sm(III) andSBH2=Schiff base molecule, [o-HOC6H4C(CH3) : NCH2]2. On the basis of elemental analyses, conductivity and magnetic measurements and infrared spectra, plausible structures for the resulting complexes have been indicated.

    Notes: Abstract The interaction of 1∶1 Th(IV)-EDTA,-CDTA or-DTPA chelate with glycollic and malic acids has been investigated potentiometrically and the formation of 1∶1∶1 mixed ligand chelates inferred from the potentiometric curves. The hydrolysis and dimerization constants of the binary chelates and the equilibrium constants of the ternary derivatives have been evaluated at 30±1° and 35±1°C and also the thermodynamic functions, viz. ΔF 0, ΔH and ΔS.

    Notes: Abstract The formation of mixed ligand complexes of the title metal ions with 1,10-phenanthroline (Phen) or 2,2′-bipyridyl (Bipy) in presence of histidine (His) has been studied pH-metrically. The stepwise formation of 1∶1∶1 mixed ligand complexes has been inferred from the potentiometric titration curves. Initially, a 1∶1 metal—Phen or—Bipy complex is formed in the lower buffer region and then the addition ofHis takes place resulting in 1∶1∶1 ternary complex formation. The formation constants (K MAL ) of the resulting mixed ligand complexes have been calculated at 30±1°C (μ=0.1 KNO3) and the values have been found to be higher than the formation constants of 1∶2 and lower than those of 1∶1 metal—His complexes. The order of stability in terms of metal ions follows the order, Ni(II)〉Zn(II)〉Cd(II).

    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Die Bildung gemischter Komplexe von Cu(II) mit 1,10-Phenanthrolin oder 2,2′-Bipyridyl in Gegenwart einer α-Aminosäure (Glycin, Alanin, Phenylalanin oder Norleucin) wurde pH-metrisch untersucht. Die pH-Titration der Reaktionsmischungen in äquimolaren Konzentrationen zeigten, daß der gleichzeitige Zusatz der Liganden zu ternären 1∶1∶1-Komplexen führt. Die Gleichgewichts- und Bildungskonstanten der resultierenden ternären Komplexe wurden bestimmt (30±1 °C; μ=0,1 KNO3). Die Reihenfolge der Stabilität bezüglich der sekundären Liganden istPhe 〉 Ala 〉 Gly 〉 Norleu.
    Notes: Abstract The formation of mixed ligand complexes of Cu(II) with 1,10-phenanthroline or 2,2′-bipyridyl in presence of an α-amino acid (glycine, alanine, phenylalanine or norleucine) have been studied by the pH-metric method. The pH-titrations of the reaction mixtures in equimolar concentrations have shown the simultaneous addition of the ligands resulting 1∶1∶1 ternary complex formation. The equilibrium and formation constants of the resulting ternary complexes have been calculated (30±1 °C; μ=0.1 KNO3). The order of stability in terms of the secondary ligands has been found to be:Phe 〉 Ala 〉 Gly 〉 Norleu.

    Notes: Abstract pH-metric studies on the interaction of oxovanadium(IV) with hippuric and anthranilic acids and pyridine-2-aldoxime indicate the formation of monohydroxo derivatives of 1:1 chelates. The equilibrium constants for the reaction, VO2++HA+H2O⇌VO(OH)A+2H+ have been calculated as 4.47±0.07 and 6.32±0.05 in the 1:1 VO2+-hippuric or anthranilic acid systems resp. and for the reaction, VO2++H2 A ++H2O⇋VO(OH)A+3H+ as 8.40±0.09 in the 1:1 VO2+-pyridine-2-aldoxime hydrochloride system at 30±0.5°C (μ=0.1-KNO3).
