Abstract The system UO2(NO3)2- Na2HPO4-H2O was investigated by determining the solubility, pH, electrical conductivity and apparent volume of the precipitates. It was found that the reaction in this system takes place in three stages, with successive formation of (UO2)a(PO4), a mixed sodium uranyl acid phosphate UO2HxNa1−xPO4 and, finally, NaUO2PO4·nH20. Coneiusions are drawn regarding the possibility of titrimetric determination of the uranyl ions and the free acidity in its salts, also the conditions for obtaining the most closely compacted umnyi phosphate precipitate.
