Notes: Rapid manufacturing moulds by plasma arc spraying is a new kind of plasma arcmachining technology. This technology has many advantages. An experimental apparatus has been set up. The influence of some special factors on the surface quality of work moulds formed by plasma arc spraying have been analyzed and experimentally researched. The micro structure of the interface between master moulds and work moulds shows that work moulds copy geometrically master moulds very well after optimizing processing parameters. Some experimental samples byplasma arc spraying have been obtained. They show that the surface patterns of work moulds match with the ones of master molds very well

Notes: The dressing on line of diamond grinding wheels used in NC optical curve grindingmachines are very difficult. A method has been researched in this paper that is dressing the diamond grinding wheels by a diamond pen aided with laser beam preheating . Its principle has been stated. The temperature mathematics model of laser beam preheating diamond grinding wheels has been set up. The temperature field of resin substrate diamond grinding wheels has been calculated. Throughthe analyses on the results of the temperature field, it has been known that the distance between laser beam preheating central and the diamond pen dressing point be very small. A new method that is delived laser beam by optical fiber in dressing on line of diamond grinding wheels by a diamond pen aided with laser beam preheating has be proposed. Uasing this new method, a high precision and high efficiency in dressing diamond grinding wheels on line can be fulfiled

Notes: There are many problems in the common baiting methods, such as bad cross-sectionquality, low efficiency and so on. In order to overcome these disadvantages, a new bar cuttingtechnology based on high speed and restrained state is put forward in the paper. The cutting processand cutting mechanics were analyzed. The stressing intensity factor and fracture toughness wereintroduced to analyze the influence of loading velocity on the cutting surface quality. By means ofthe dislocation theory, the influence of loading velocity on the fracture process was researched.Numerical simulation and experiments were carried out, and the results were conformed well withthe theoretical ones

Notes: Preparation of semi-solid microstructure of 7075 aluminum alloy industrial extrusionbillets was studied in this paper. A new semi-solid microstructure preparation process is proposed. Inthe treatment, melting-stirring and predeformation of the alloy billets are not required. An idealmicrostructure and higher dimensional precision of the billet can be obtained only with a directheating and insulation method. The influences of different heating temperatures and insulation timeon the microstructure evolution were studied with orthogonal testing methods. The obtainedmicrostructure was observed and analyzed by optical microscopy, and the formation mechanism ofthe semi-solid microstructure is further discussed. The results indicate that a fine microstructure canbe obtained with the proposed process and the processing parameters can be controlled over a widerange. Also, the grain microstructure obtained by the present process is better than that of the SIMA.For 7075 aluminum alloy billets, perfect fine equiaxial grains can be obtained under a heatingtemperature of 620ºC and a holding time of about 25 minutes. The average grain size is around 80μm

Notes: The forming process of spline cold rolling was analyzed. The unit average pressure, contact area and rolling force in the cold rolling precision forming process were analyzed andsolved. The mechanical and mathematical model has been set up on the basis of the analysis. Thenumerical simulation of spline cold rolling process was carried out. The results obtained bycomparison of theoretical analysis, numerical simulation and experiment provide a theoretical basisfor the study and application of spline cold rolling process

Notes: Rapid prototyping full compacted metal parts has becoming the focus of attention in thedomain of rapid prototyping. In this paper, the method of forming full compacted metal parts byselective laser melting has been put out and the experimental researches on it have been carried out.The surface quality and the inner microstructure of the parts formed by selective laser melting wereanalyzed. The full compacted metal parts without any micro-cracks have been attained. The testresults show that the tensile strengthen of 316L stainless steel parts formed by selective lasermelting is greater than that of casting 316L stainless steel parts

Description: The inter‐annual variation of springtime haze pollution was significantly influenced by the atmospheric circulation anomalies. The North Atlantic Oscillation and sea surface temperature anomalies over North Atlantic Ocean play a role in modulating the spring haze variation in the NCP region. The mechanism by which the NAO and SST anomalies over the North Atlantic Ocean collectively affect spring haze events has been proposed. Haze pollution is a serious air quality issue in China. Previous studies over the North China Plain (NCP) mainly focused on analysing the haze during boreal winter. However, the variation in haze during spring and the related factors remain unclear. This study investigates inter‐annual variation of the spring haze, which is represented by the humidity‐corrected dry extinction coefficient (DEC) over the NCP. During high DEC years, pronounced positive DEC anomalies appear over the NCP and its surrounding regions. Correspondingly, a notable anticyclonic anomaly is observed over Northeast Asia, inducing significant southeasterly wind anomalies over the NCP. The anomalous southeasterly winds reduce wind speed and increase relative humidity, which provides favourable meteorological conditions for accumulation and growth of aerosol pollutants. Further analysis shows that the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) contributes to the formation of anticyclonic anomalies over Northeast Asia via downstream propagating atmospheric wave trains. Additionally, positive sea surface temperature (SST) anomalies over the subtropical northeastern Atlantic Ocean may also impact the DEC variation. The linear barotropic model experiment further confirms the important role of subtropical northeastern Atlantic SST anomalies in contributing to the anomalous anticyclone over Northeast Asia and southerly wind anomalies over the NCP region, which are triggered via eastwards propagating atmospheric wave trains. This study gives support to the idea that the NAO and the North Atlantic SST may be potential predictors for the frequently observed springtime NCP haze variation.

Description: This paper presents a camera-based lane departure warning system implemented on a field programmable gate array (FPGA) device. The system is used as a driver assistance system, which effectively prevents accidents given that it is endowed with the advantages of FPGA technology, including high performance for digital image processing applications, compactness, and low cost. The main contributions of this work are threefold. (1) An improved vanishing point-based steerable filter is introduced and implemented on an FPGA device. Using the vanishing point to guide the orientation at each pixel, this algorithm works well in complex environments. (2) An improved vanishing point-based parallel Hough transform is proposed. Unlike the traditional Hough transform, our improved version moves the coordinate origin to the estimated vanishing point to reduce storage requirements and enhance detection capability. (3) A prototype based on the FPGA is developed. With improvements in the vanishing point-based steerable filter and vanishing point-based parallel Hough transform, the prototype can be used in complex weather and lighting conditions. Experiments conducted on an evaluation platform and on actual roads illustrate the effective performance of the proposed system.
