    Notes: 2,4,6-Triphenyl-2,3,4,7-tetrahydro-thiazolo[3,2-a]-s-triazine is used as a stabilizer for single base propellant and gave good results with the stability tests. Comparing the results of the stability and storage tests at 80°C, 90°C and 100°C with the results of the same tests after using diphenylamine instead of the thiazolo compound gave the same results without difference between the two stabilizers.

    Notes: Oxidative decomposition of cellulose nitrate was brought about by simple wet-ashing in a beaker with nitric acid and the digest-residue was further oxidised with 30% hydrogen peroxide, followed by evaporation to dryness. Interferences arising from use of hydrogen peroxide were later avoided by digesting with nitric acid and Evaporation to dryness. Complete oxidation was achieved in approximately one hour. The digests allow rapid sulphate determination by the lead nitrate-dithizone titration method. The method was greatly successful for analyzing both the unstabilized cellulose nitrates and those carefully stabilized materials.

    Notes: For safety purpose during the storage of single base propellant it is important to study all factors which will act on its components through this period. This study is more demanded on changing the source of raw material. Thermal decomposition and applying of Berthelot's law helped in determination of storage period of a single base propellant after its preparation from Sudan cotton linters as a new raw material.

The samples were stored for 12 days at 100°C and were extracted by different suitable solvents. The column partition chromatography helped in separation of the different nitro-derivatives of the 1,3-diketone stabilizer.

    Notes: 2,6-Diphenylmcthylene-thiazolo-pyrimidine-trione, the o-, m-, and p-nitrophenyl-derivatives were prepared and incorporated as stabilizers in a double base smokeless powder. The prepared powders were subjected to some standard qualitative and quantitative stability tests. It was found that the 2,6 diphenyl trione (Ia) has a good stabilizing effect for double-base propellants.
