Notes:
The level of water in the Caspian Sea has risen by 2 m in the last fifteen years and is continuing to rise. Fluctuation in the level of this lake has been observed in the past, but its present rate of rising is without precedent. The probable causes of such a high rate of increase in the level are explored and listed. The adverse economic impact on agricultural, civil, recreational and commercial activities on the shore of Iran are considered and ways to combat the problem are discussed.
