    Notes: Abstract The interactions between nonionic surfactants such as polyoxyethylene cetyl ethers (C16EO20) and the polymer gelatin were investigated by rheological methods. Capillary viscosity measurements of diluted aqueous solutions confirmed the results of previous investigations [1]. C16EO20 caused an accelerated renaturation of the polypeptide gelatin. A strong variation of viscoelastic data was measured by vibration rheometry when gelatin was added to the lyotropic cubic liquid crystalline phases formed by the surfactant used. Loss module (E″) and loss factor (tan ϕ) increased with increasing content of the polymer indicating an obstruction of the coupling between the globular surfactant associates.

    Notes: Abstract The mutual interactions between nonionic surfactants such as polyoxyethylene cetyl ethers (C16EO n ,n=15, 20) especially their cubic lyotropic liquid crystalline phases of typeI 1 and polymer gelatin were investigated. The colloidal microstructure of such anI 1-phase consisting of close-packed globular surfactant aggregates was shown by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The diameter of the globules found by TEM correlated well with the periodic distance of about 7.5 nm obtained by small angle x-ray diffraction (SAXD). In ternary systems consisting of surfactant, gelatin, and water cubic liquid crystalline structures were also proved by polarized light microscopy, TEM, and SAXD. The polymer did not participate in the cubic structure but formed, at least in part, anisotropic spherulites. In diluted surfactant systems however, interactions between polymer and surfactants were clearly found by polarimetry. The nonionic surfactants caused an accelerated coil-helix transition of the polypeptid gelatin.

    Notes: Zusammenfassung Die Leistungsfähigkeit der früher beschriebenen Apparatur zur Trennung von gasförmigen Isotopengemischen ist durch Verdoppelung der Zahl der Trennungsglieder sowie durch Benutzung größerer Pumpen bei einem Teil der Trennungsglieder so weit erhöht worden, daß bereits durch einmalige Anwendung des Verfahrens aus normalem Neon das Isotop 22 praktisch rein hergestellt werden kann. Auch das schwere Wasserstoffisotop läßt sich mit Hilfe der Apparatur in großer Reinheit darstellen. Ausgehend von einem Wasserstoff, welcher etwa 1 ‰ des schweren Isotops enthält, ergibt sich in 8 Stunden 1 cm3 spektralreiner schwerer Wasserstoff von Atmosphärendruck.

    Notes: Abstract This article describes investigations into the publication behaviour of scientific authors from the GDR. The obtained data revealed that — analogous to the Lotka-distribution — not only a fifth of all authors produce half of the publications of a certain institute, but that these authors also have a quicker reaction time and receptivity to new international research problems. These findings may make it possible to substantiate proposals by guiding scientists in the direction of themes, respectively to help the science policy in the process of the elaboration of new research programs.

    Description / Table of Contents: Experiences with mobile hardness testersDuring recent years the use of mobile electronically operating hardness testers has become more and more significant for in-process inspections and shop and site inspections.The field and limits of application for this equipment are determined chiefly by the material to be tested, the geometry of the component as well as the information required of the test.The purpose of our work was to establish, with the help of two mobile hardness testers involving the dynamic and static testing procedure on more than 50 metallic materials, the way in which an alteration to various test parameters (surface condition of the components, tester calibration) would affect the hardness values indicated.Furthermore the scatter of readings for the mobile hardness tester was examined.
    Notes: Im Lauf der letzten Jahre erlangte der Einsatz mobiler Härteprüfgeräte zunehmende Bedeutung bei Fertigungsprüfungen sowie in der Bau- und Montageüberwachung, wobei Einsatzbereich und Anwendungsgrenzen in erster Linie vom zu prüfenden Werkstoff, von der Bauteilgeometrie sowie von der geforderten Prüfaussage bestimmt werden.Anhand von je zwei mobilen Härteprüfgeräten dynamischer und statischer Prüfverfahren wurde beim RW TÜV (Essen) an über 50 metallischen Werkstoffen der Einfluß verschiedener Prüfparameter, wie Beschaffenheit der Bauteiloberfläche und Gerätejustierung, auf den Härtewert untersucht und neben den Meßwertstreuungen der Prüfgeräte dargestellt. Ferner wurden die verwendeten Härteprüfgeräte miteinander verglichen und deren geräte- bzw. verfahrensabhängige Eigenschaften herausgestellt.
