Abstract Coefficients of interdiffusion in water-alcohol solutions calculated according to the Hartley-Crank theory were compared. Good agreement between theory and experiment is achieved if one considers the diffusion process in systems with strong nonideality as convective mixing due to hydrodynamic (large-scale) velocity fluctuations. Taking this mechanism into account leads to replacement of the nonideality coefficient α1/2 in the theoretical equations within the entire concentration region.
