Organometallic Polychalcogenide Chelates. IX. Degradation of Cyclooctasulfur by Metallocene Hydrides - a New Route to Polysulfide ChelatesReaction of the metallocene hydrides (C5H5)MoH2 and (C5H5)2WH2 with elemental sulfur in toluene solution at room temperature leads to H2S evolution and to selective formation of the metallocene tetrasulfides (C5H5)2MS4 (M = Mo, W). In these compounds the S4 chain acts as a bidentate chelating ligand.

Die Metallocenhydride (C5H5)2MoH2 und (C5H5)2WH2 reagieren mit elementarem Schwefel in Toluollösung bei Raumtemperatur unter Freisetzung von H2S und selektiver Bildung der Metallocentetrasulfide (C5H5)2MS4 (M = Mo, W), in denen die S1-Kette als zweizähnig chelierender Ligand fungiert.
