Conclusions 1. The use of short-shell deformation functions [6] enables general stress features of the Ljungstrom turbine radial flow stage to be taken into account, substantially reducing computation work. 2. Application of the solutions obtained for rigid and articulated design systems of the stage possesses advantages of procedure and facilitates practical utilization of the design relationships. At the same time, calculation of the articulated system represents a development on the Melan method [1]. 3. Advantages of using short-shell deformation functions [6] are also evidenced by the possibility of employing the relationships obtained also for calculating other simpler axisymmetrical constructions, for example Siemens Schuckert turbine radial flow stages, Sirocco fan wheel members, and the cylindrical sections of welded rotors. In such cases, only preliminary simplification of the basic formulas is necessary.
