Abstract:
Notes:
Summary Tetrachlorophthalates have been successfully applied for the analysis of n-monoolefins. These substances show a specific selectivity to either geometric or positional isomers and thus, permit to achieve separations hitherto impossible. Retention indices of all straight-chain heptenes, octenes, nonenes, and decenes have been measured in the temperature range 60–120°C on capillary columns coated with di-n-butyl tetrachlorophthalate and bis (2-ethylhexyl) tetrachlorophthalate. The temperature dependency of the retention index and the retention index increments between the two substrates are characteristic for a certain type of isomers.
