Synthesis and Reactions of Sulfenic Trifluoromethanesulfonic AnhydridesSulfenyl halogenides 1 and 4 react with silver trifluoromethanesulfonate (2) to give aryl 3 and alkylsulfenic trifluoromethanesulfonic anhydrides 5, resp., in good yields; 3 and 5 could not be isolated because of their instability. 1H NMR spectroscopic data to 5a, b, each in dichloromethane and nitromethane, resp., are indicative of a dissoziation to adducts of alkylsulfenylium ions and the solvent. Whereas 3 do not react with aromatic compounds, addition products with diphenylacetylene, arylsulfenylvinyl trifluoromethanesulfonates 11, are formed smoothly, which under the reaction conditions immediately cyclize to give benzo[b]thiophenes 10 in excellent yields.

Ayrl- 3 und Alkylsulfensäure-trifluormethansulfonsäure-anhydride 5 sind aus Sulfenylhalogeniden 1 bzw. 4 und Silber-trifluormethansulfonate (2) in guten Ausbeuten zugänglich, wegen ihrer Zersetzlichkeit jedoch nicht in Substanz isolierbar. Aus den 1H-NMR-Spektren der gemischten Anhydride 5a, b in Dichlormethan bzw. Nitromethan ist auf eine Dissoziation in Alkylsulfenylium-Ionen, die als Addukte mit dem Lösungsmittel vorliegen, zu schließen. Die Anhydride 3 reagieren nicht mit Aromaten, addieren sich jedoch glatt an Diphenylacetylen zu Arylsulfenylvinyl-trifluormethansulfonaten 11, die unter den angewandten Bedingungen sofort und in sehr guten Ausbeuten zu Benzo[b]thiophenen 10 cyclisieren.
