Description / Table of Contents: Water: How Secure are We under Climate Change? -- Influence of stemflow measurement on interception estimation under Eucalyptus plantations -- Strategic Human Resources in Water Sources Development -- Water Budget Monitoring of the Ganga River Basin using remote sensing data and GIS -- Evaluation of SWAT Model for Simulating the Water Balance Components for the DudhKoshi River Basin in Nepal -- Development Policy Framework Towards Riverfront Development (RFD)- A Study on Mula- Mutha Riverfront Pune, Maharashtra, India -- Rejuvenating Water Wisdom: A Route to Resilience. .
Abstract: This book covers a wide spectrum of water resources management, including water supply and demand, operation and maintenance of water distribution systems, water quality assessment, impacts of climate change on hydrological extremes, and water governance. Rapid urbanization, industrialization, and population growth are the major factors contributing to a significant rise in water demands across all the sectors in India. Although the Indian Summer Monsoon Rainfall contributes primarily to the available surface and groundwater resources, recurrent non-uniform/erratic rainfall events have resulted in widespread water scarcity. On many occasions, extreme meteorological conditions trigger the severity of water-related disasters such as floods and droughts. The untreated wastewater from domestic and industrial sources discharged through un-engineered means, adds to the issue as it ends up polluting the surface and groundwater resources. .

Description / Table of Contents: The bryoflora of the Vestfold Hills and Ingrid Christensen Coast includes six moss species and one hepatic. Moss species represented in the flora are Grimmia antarctici, Grimmia lawiana, Ceratodon purpureus, Sarconeurum glaciale, Bryum algens, Bryum argenteum. The one hepatic Cephaloziella exiliflora, from the Larsemann Hills, represents the most southerly record of an hepatic. A discussion of the Antarctic distribution and taxonomic problems associated with the recognition of individual species is included. All species are illustrated.

Description / Table of Contents: This annotated checklist and bibliography of the lichen flora of subantarctic Macquarie Island provides the first comprehensive introduction to the literature on the island's lichen flora. Names of 141 taxa in 76 genera are enumerated. No taxonomic revisions or verification of identifications are attempted but the currently accepted name for each taxon is given. Forty-one taxa, including six which have been reduced to synonymy, are based on types collected from Macquarie Island.

Description / Table of Contents: Increasingly, gravel-bed rivers are being developed for a variety of purposes: water resources, flood control, land drainage, navigation and power production. It is essential, therefore, that they are sympathetically managed in order to maintain their natural stability and character. This book reports recent research relating to the dynamics of sediment transport, modelling morphological change and the impact of engineering works and catchment development on sediment transport and channel stability. The emphasis on river dynamics reflects the need for a better understanding of adjustment mechanisms in order to develop appropriate mathematical models of channel change for scientific and engineering application. Each section consists of two invited papers which are arranged to form coherent chapters plus shorter discussion papers and a closure by the main authors. Theoretical, laboratory and field studies are included together with applied engineering case studies. The book is based on material presented at the 3rd International Workshop on Gravel-bed Rivers held in Florence in September 1990.
Description / Table of Contents: Contents: Introduction. - Entrainment and movement at low transport rates. - Equal mobility or selective transport?. - Transport of graded material. - Bedload transport rates. - Armouring processes. - Bar forms, armouring and transport processes. - Selective transport of fine material. - Downstram fining. - Modelling sediment transport. - Bedform dynamics. - Meander channel dynamics. - Braided channel dynamics. - Alluvial fan and steep stream dynamics. - Historical changes. - Impact of engineering works. - Impact of Catchment development. - Index
