    Description / Table of Contents: Aromatic Phosphines with Second Order Substituents, XI. NitrophenylphosphinesTriaryl- and alkyl-diarylphosphines with several m-nitro groups, unavailable by existing methods, are easily prepared by nitration with nitronium tetrafluoroborate, provided that oxidation at phosphorus is suppressed by means of a protecting group. Reaction of the new phosphines with sulfur does not reveal a + M effect of phosphine phosphorus.
    Notes: Die bislang unzugänglichen Triaryl- und Alkyl-diaryl-phosphine mit mehreren m-Nitrogruppen können auf einfache Weise durch Nitrierung mit Nitronium-tetrafluoroborat gewonnen werden, wenn der Phosphor durch eine Schutzgruppe vor Oxydation bewahrt wird. Die Reaktion der neuen Phosphine mit Schwefel läßt keinen + M Effekt des Phosphin-Phosphors erkennen.

Spectra of para-Phosphorus Substituted AnilinesThe main absorption band of aniline and dimethylaniline is strongly shifted towards longer wavelengths by para-substituents containing phosphorus in a way typical for  -  M substituents. In both series of compounds the effect increases with decreasing electron density on phosphorus.
    Notes: In para-phosphor-substituierten Anilinen und Dimethylanilinen ist die Hauptbande gegenüber den Grundkörpern stark bathochrom verschoben, wie es für  -  M-Substituenten typisch ist. In beiden Reihen wird der Effekt mit sinkender Elektronendichte am Phosphor größer.
